Amazon Rainforest Lodges

The Peruvian Amazon is the home of millions of species of rare mammals, birds, and reptiles; many of them near extinction. The Amazon contains the world’s largest rainforest reserve. You may choose to stay at the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge on the shores of the Amazon River in Yanamono Reserve. You may also visit the Tambopata or Manu reserve with their amazing and beautiful macaw clay licks.

Macaw Clay Lick

Tambopata Reserve and Macaw Clay Lick

Along the Tambopata River, only 30 minutes from Cuzco lies one of the most pristine and unspoiled areas in the Amazon Jungle, the Tambopata Reserve. The Reserve is home to more species of animals than any other place on earth. Here, you can see six-foot river otters capable of beating jaguars in a fight, and boat down uncharted rivers.

Reserva Amazonica

Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica

Reserva Amazonica, the most luxurious and romantic lodge in the Peruvian Amazon, was built in 1975 by Peru’s eco-pioneers, José and Denise Koechlin. Right in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, and adjacent to the Tambopata National Park, the Reserva is surrounded by a 40-square-mile private ecological reserve. The wildlife here is remarkable, from giant and colorful macaws, to toucans, parrots, tapirs, tamarind monkeys, owls, and the vivid Southern Amazon Red Squirrels. There is also a diverse and large variety of monkeys.

The Lodge

Tamshiyacu – Tahuayo Reserve

The most diverse region in the entire Amazon is arguably the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo area. This magnificent reserve covers a large and ecologically diverse region of the western Amazon rainforest. Thought to be a zone that remained forested during the last ice age, the area is home to many species found nowhere else in the world. This tour allows you the rare opportunity to visit one of the ecologically rich areas in the world with a copious amount of indigenous plants, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.
