Peru Trekking Tours

Get the chance to see Peru’s amazing beauty up close as you trek through the breathtaking landscapes, admiring the local flora and fauna. With several different routes to choose from, you can hike the legendary Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu as the Incas once did; trek to Machu Picchu via the Lares Trek; or hike to Choquequirao, a very large archaeological complex located in the surroundings of the Salkantay sacred mountain. Moderate-to-difficult activity is involved in some of these excursions. If permits are not available for the Inca trail, we recommend the alternative routes through Lares or Salkantay. All trips include a brief stop in Lima and a visit to the beautiful city of Cuzco.

Salkantay

Lima and Cuzco with 3 Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu

10 days, from $4,106.00

This amazing trek runs beneath the sacred Salkantay mountain (6.271m/20569ft), one of the highest and most stunning in the Peruvian Andes. You will pass through Quechua communities and lesser-known Inca ruins, to finally reach Aguas Calientes on the third day of the trek. This is a great alternative for those who are unable to obtain the permit required to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

The Inca trail

Lima and Cuzco with 4-Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

11 days, from $3,460.00

The Inca Trail winds between the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba River and the previously abandoned citadel of Machu Picchu, connecting the four corners of the Inca Empire. Hiking any portion of the Inca Trail is a thrilling and unforgettable experience as you travel the paths that were long ago made by the Incas. Yampu travelers sample a small section of the trail in this tour, enjoying breathtaking views of the Andes Mountain range and its high snow-capped peaks. This trip also includes stays in Cuzco and Lima, the capital of Peru.

Lares trek

Lima and Cuzco with 3-Day Lares Trek to Machu Picchu

11 days, from $4,106.00

This trip takes you to the lost city of Machu Picchu via the Lares Trek, a great alternative to the classic Inca Trail. The Lares Trek is less traveled and ideal for hikers who may wish to get off the “beaten path”. Along the way, this Yampu trek will display a beautiful combination of amazing mountain scenery, glacial lagoons, cloud forests, visits to authentic Quechua communities, and a visit to the colonial town of Lares and its natural hot springs.

Peruvian Llamas

Lima, Cuzco and Machu Picchu with Peru Mountain Lodges

11 days, from $7,491.00

Explore Peru’s popular cities, Lima and Cuzco, before hiking to the town of Aguas Calientes located only 30 minutes from Machu Picchu by bus. During your hike, rest in the comfort of different Peruvian mountain lodges every night enjoying the hospitality of the Andean locals. This is a great alternative for those travelers who would prefer not to camp.

Choquequirao Ruins

Trek to the Choquequirao Inca Ruins, Cuzco and Machu Picchu

12 days, from $4,087.00

An amazing 60 kilometer/40 mile trek will take you to the enigmatic last refuge of the Incas, Choquequirao. Occasionally referred to as the “sister” of Machu Picchu because of their striking similarity in structure and architecture, Choquequirao is a very large archaeological complex still undergoing cleaning and restoration. The complex is located in the vicinity of the Salkantay sacred mountain and the Apurimac River canyon. During this unique excursion, you will enjoy inspiring mountain scenery and an abundance of local Andean flora and fauna. Choquequirao is a perfect alternative to the sometimes overcrowded destination Machu Picchu.
