Located south of Nairobi in the Rift Valley Province on the border of Tanzania, Amboseli is set apart from other parks by its backdrop, Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest free-standing mountain and all of the wildlife that it boasts such as baboons, buffaloes, cheetah, elephants, hippos, vervet monkeys and a plentiful and diverse bird population.

On this tour, you have the chance to experience two game drives per day in open-top, 4×4 Land Rovers or Land Cruisers with no more than six passengers to each vehicle, and you may also take walking tours with local Maasai guides. These native guides share their knowledge of the African Bush and the animals in it, and their perspective on its significance to them and the native community.

Day 1

Nairobi (Wilson)– Amboseli National Park Transfer to Wilson airport for flight to Amboseli air strip. Upon arrival at the Amboseli airport, reception and transfer to your safari camp; on the way, you'll pass local Maasai villages and Amboseli's grounds. After you unpack, settle in and have lunch you'll set off on your first game drive. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as its backdrop, Amboseli could easily considered one of Kenya’s most scenic national parks, and the wildlife that it offers is equally as spectacular as its grounds. Keep a look out for buffaloes and elephants in particular, since Amboseli has prime breeding grounds for these animals and often these creatures are the most present.

You'll wrap up your day with a sundowner, a night game drive back to the camp and dinner followed by a cocktail of your choice by a camp fire, where you can tell stories, talk to other travelers and listen to the sounds of the Bush at night.

Return to camp and overnight.

Day 2

Amboseli National Park After coffee, tea and breakfast pastries, you'll drive through the bush for a full morning of game viewing.

Following lunch at camp or a picnic in the park, you'll spend your afternoon at leisure.

In the early evening you may go on another game drive, stop for a sundowner and find out more about nocturnal animals, such as aardvarks, serval cats, caracals, bat-eared foxes and African wild cats.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Amboseli National Park Head out on your morning game drive after coffee, tea and homemade, baked goods. After a full morning of game viewing you'll return to camp, have brunch and take it easy for the rest of the afternoon. You'll have the option to take a guided walk led by a local Maasai warrior, see the landscape on foot, listen to warrior stories about the Bush and find out more about the plants used as natural medicines.

In the evening, you'll head out on another game drive, followed by sundowners, dinner and drinks around the camp fire.

Day 4

Amboseli National Park Take another early morning game drive after breakfast. Keep in mind, each game drive is distinct, and since the camps are small, the drives can be tailored to your group's preferences.

Return to camp for a late brunch; then keep a look out for game, read or just kick back.

After lunch and a siesta, set off on your evening game drive. At the end of the drive, you'll stop for a drink and watch night fall over Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Day 5

Amboseli National Park – Nairobi Wake up early for one last game drive; who knows, you may even see some wildlife that you hadn't seen before.

Return to collect your bags and transfer Amboseli air strip where you will fly back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi or continue with the add of your choice in Kenya or Tanzania.

Amboseli is one of Kenya’s top three most popular and important national reserves and you will experience an unforgettable visit at any time of year. The most popular months to visit the park are January and February as well as June through September. For Kenya birdwatchers, the best months to see migratory birds are October through January, and the best times for viewing are early and late in the day, as animals tend to sleep in the hot midday sun.
