Glaciers National Park is famous for Perito Moreno and Upsala, two of the most visited glaciers in the world. Perito Moreno is an ice river 60 km long that descends to Lago Argentino and is one of only three Patagonian glaciers that are not retreating. Yampu will guide you to the northern tip of Lago Argentino and the Estancia Cristina to visit the breathtaking Upsala Glacier. This glacier is 30 km wide and the largest in all of Patagonia. Prior to the visit to the glaciers, we will spend four days in Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan city on the southern shore of Rio de la Plata. It is a favored destination for travelers from all over the world.

This trip can be customized to fit your individual travel dates and any specific requests you may have. Your travel consultant will prepare a customized itinerary for you. We offer a choice of 3, 4, 5-star and deluxe hotels. The Deluxe option is with the Alvear Palace or Four Seasons in Buenos Aires, and the Patagonia Park Plaza Hotel in Calafate. We may also take an optional excursion to Chalten or the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile.

This tour includes airfare allowance from Miami (US), on non-holiday dates. You do not need to fly via Miami; Yampu will fly you the most direct way to your city of destination. Depending on your travel dates and proximity of travel, we will quote you the most economical surcharge from your city or country of origin.

Day 1

Take the overnight flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Day 2

Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour of Buenos Aires, an impressive city that combines the atmosphere of an old European town with the features of a Latin American capital. In this tour, you will acquire a deep understanding of its characteristics, its history, its architecture, its culture and its best stories. We will visit the center of the city, San Telmo, La Boca, Puerto Madero and Palermo, with stops in Plaza de Mayo, Caminito and La Recoleta.
Note: check-in is normally after 2 pm. Early check-in may be granted subject to availability (not confirmed). Also, tour is done on group basis and may involve wait times picking up other passengers at different hotels. We recommend that this tour be done privately in order to avoid this, at an additional cost of $ 42 per person, based on two people ($ 84 based on one person).

Day 3

Fiesta Gaucha
Full-day excursion to an estancia for a typical barbeque lunch and a folklore/gaucho show. Here we will learn about the customs of the Argentinean gauchos, and their abilities on horseback that will leave you breathless. The meat will be cooked a lo gaucho outdoors on the barbeque. Lunch and drinks included. Afternoon return to Buenos Aires. Duration: 6 hours. Operates every day except Tuesday.

Day 4

Day of leisure in Buenos Aires
Evening tango show
At night, you will see an unforgettable tango show performed by the best dancers and singers while enjoying a delicious meal at Esquina Carlos Gardel. This world-famous tango show features the glamour of the 1930s in a romantic and intimate setting. This is the perfect way to leave Buenos Aires, the city of tango. Three-course dinner and Argentinean wine included.

Day 5

Morning transfer to the airport to take the flight from Buenos Aires to Calafate. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 6

Overland trip to Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the world’s largest active continental glaciers, declared Universal Mankind’s Heritage Site by UNESCO, because of its breathtaking beauty and its unusual behavior. A boat excursion to the face of the glacier is included to get an up-close and personal perspective of this immense gift from Mother Nature.

Optional mini-trekking excursion for outdoor enthusiasts (additional $55 per person).

Day 7

Depart from the hotel to Puerto Bandera, 50 kilometers (31 miles) away from El Calafate, to enjoy a full-day lake excursion to Upsala Glacier and Estancia Cristina. You will board a modern and comfortable boat to sail among hundreds of icebergs on Lago Argentino as it approaches the breathtaking view of Upsala Glacier’s towering western front, the largest glacier in Los Glaciers National Park. From here, you continue sailing through Cristina Canal where you will disembark at the Estancia Cristina. You will have six hours to enjoy the many activities at Estancia Cristina, including a guided walk to the Caterina River and Chapel. Lunch will be served in the dining hall at the Estancia.

After this excursion, you will return to the Estancia farm house where you will depart at 5:30pm and arrive back at Puerto Bandera at approximately 7:00pm. Return to Calafate and transfer to your hotel. Lunch included.

Optional: You can ride in an all-terrain vehicle or enjoy a trekking excursion filled with marine fossils (at additional cost).

Day 8

Transfer to the airport to take the flight back to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, transfer to the international airport for connecting flight back home.
