See a part of India like no other, the tranquil backwaters of Kerala. Explore the historic, multicultural town of Kochi (Cochin) before setting sail on the region’s pristine lagoons and ocean inlets upon a brilliantly designed houseboat. Enjoy a day cruising by the coastal, palm-fringed villages before anchoring for the night in a serene lagoon. Spend the remainder of your trip on land exploring the quaint town of Kumarakom and its surroundings.

Begin your trip exploring the coastal town of Kochi. Also known as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea,” Kochi is an interesting small city that is built on a network of islands. This quaint city has been subject to many sea faring traders throughout its history from places like Portugal and China, which has created today’s eclectic atmosphere. A city tour is sure to show you all of the highlights here, including India’s oldest synagogue, Vasco de Gama’s tomb, an ancient Dutch Palace and the region’s famous Chinese fishing nets in action.

The following day you will embark upon the backwaters of Kerala on your houseboat. The backwaters in Kerala are a sweeping network of over 1500 kilometers (933 miles) of natural and man-made canals, ocean inlets, 38 rivers and five large lakes that stretch irregularly along the coastline. Explore this purified world in the land of trees, where you will see swaying rice patties, lush coconut canopies, quiet beaches and local villages. After a full day and a night aboard, spend the rest of your time at leisure exploring the town of Kumarakom, set on the shores of Lake Vembanad.

This trip can be customized to fit your individual travel dates and any specific requests you may have. Your travel consultant will prepare a customized itinerary for you. We offer a choice of 3 star, 4 star, 5 star and Deluxe hotels as well as premium or deluxe houseboats.

The houseboats are designed for maximum comfort for your cruise and overnight stay. Constructed with materials like bamboo mat, Arecanut trees and coir, each boat features an eco-friendly construction. On the deck is a luxurious tented canopy with a lavishly designed interior, which features exquisite furnishing and bedding, hardwood floors, a full kitchen and an en suite bathroom with a flush toilet and sink.

All meals while on board are included and provide an experience in itself. The on board cuisine is prepared by a personal chef that involves wonderfully prepared local cuisine featuring delicacies like white prawns, pearl spotted fish, crabs and mussels. The meals include lunch, evening coffee or tea with snacks, dinner and breakfast.
