Yampu’s comprehensive tour of Nicaragua includes a visit to the old colonial towns of León and Granada. From Granada, we will climb above the canopy of the tropical forest and visit the Mombacho Volcano—part of a nature reserve that is among the most beautiful remaining areas of tropical rainforest in Nicaragua. We will explore Lake Nicaragua and visit Ometepe Island. Before we head home we will spend two relaxing days in the beach area of San Juan del Sur, a tranquil fishing village with beautiful white-sand beaches.
This tour includes international airfare from Miami (US), on non-holiday dates. You do not need to fly via Miami; Yampu will fly you the most direct way to your city of destination. Depending on your travel dates and proximity of travel, we will quote you the most economical surcharge from your city or country of origin.

Day 2
Full-day visit to colonial León and volcanic fields
This tour gives you the opportunity to see the ruins of the first capital of Nicaragua, founded in 1524 by Spanish captain Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba. Unlike Granada, this city moved to its present location in 1610. The ruins of the original León were declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. León was the capital of Nicaragua for more than 200 years before being replaced by Managua in 1851. León’s cathedral is the largest religious colonial building in Central America. The remains of the internationally known poet Ruben Dario are resting there. Enjoy a visit to the Museum Ruben Dario, Art Galley Ortiz Gurdian (one of the best private art galleries in Latin America) and other attractive places. We will end our tour with a visit to the San Jacinto volcanic fields overlooking the impressive volcanic chain of Nicaragua. Overnight at a hotel in Leon.
Day 3
Transfer to Granada and city tour. Granada is the third-oldest city in the Western Hemisphere. Granada was founded in 1524 by Spanish captain Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba. Although often overwhelmed by pirates, destroyed during civil wars and set on fire by the American filibuster William Walker in 1856, it remains one of the most beautiful cities in Nicaragua. You can take a carriage ride throughout Granada to appreciate its beautiful architecture. We will end our trip on a boat ride on the beautiful islands of Lake Nicaragua. Lunch included. Overnight in Granada.
Day 4
Mombacho Volcano Adventure (Canopy and Natural Reserve)
Enjoy nature and have the experience of your life. This complete combo gives you the opportunity to enjoy some highlights of Nicaragua in only 1 day by having the exhilarating adventure of climbing above the canopy of the tropical forest and sliding down from one platform to another, while enjoying close contact with nature. After lunch (included), we will visit the Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve, home to one of the most beautiful remaining areas of tropical rainforest in Nicaragua. It offers splendid views of Lake Nicaragua and its islands, and there are two trails—El Puma and El Crater—to choose from.
Day 5
Early departure and transfer to the port of San Jorge. Ferry and excursion to Ometepe Island, then take an unforgettable journey to one of the most beautiful places of Nicaragua: Ometepe Island, the world’s highest lake island. The excursion starts by heading toward the southern part of the country, getting to San Jorge’s port where we will take a ferry that will take us to Ometepe. Here you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views in all of Nicaragua. We will visit places like the pre-Columbian Museum, the Green Puddles lagoon, the great view of Volcano Conception and the green volcano Madera. Lunch will be taken in Santo Domingo beach. Back to the port to take the ferry and transfer to San Juan del Sur.
Day 6
Day at leisure in San Juan del Sur. You may visit the small fishing town or just relax on the beach.
Day 7
Transfer to Managua. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 8
Transfer to the airport to take the flight back home, or choose from optional add-ons in Nicaragua, extension to Costa Rica or other Central American countries.
