Experience the magic of the Amazon with Yampu Tours. Your Amazon journey takes off on arrival in Iquitos, where you will be met and transferred to the Delfin I. You will experience the ideal combination of natural wonder, dramatic scenery, indigenous cultural history and a relaxed self-contained way to explore the Amazon while sightseeing nature at its best, where flora and fauna are abundant. During your river cruise you will easily spot parrots, macaws and monkeys, including the popular monk Saki monkey with a gray and black body, naked face and long shaggy tail. You might also see the saddle back tamarin monkey, whose high chirping notes can easily be confused with those of a flock of birds.

Day 1
Thursday
Today you will take the flight from Lima to Iquitos. Upon arrival you will be greeted for airport reception and transferred to the Delfin I (approximately 1.5 hours).
Just before dusk, as the Delfin I starts its journey into the rainforest, the staff will provide you with drinks and cocktails including Peru’s finest and most famous cocktail, the pisco sour. This evening enjoy dinner in a cozy dining room located at the back of the ship’s second deck. Because of its cultural diversity, Peruvian cuisine is considered one of the world’s finest, making the country an attractive culinary destination. Aside from providing you with your first rainforest adventure, the Delfin I will also prove to be a unique culinary experience, offering the best of Amazonian-Peruvian cuisine in a cosmopolitan gourmet setting.

Day 2
Friday
Dawn and dusk are ideal times for nature observation; on your first morning we highly recommend waking early to enjoy the sunrise over the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve as the birds flock with activity.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided hike through two different ecosystems: a flooded forest and terra firme forest. As you hike your naturalist guide will point out local flora and fauna. After an hour you will reach a pristine lagoon and board two dugout canoes to explore the remote freshwater lagoon that is home to a rare and unique freshwater fish, the paiche, one of the largest in the Amazon basin. Return to the M/V Delfin I for lunch.
This afternoon you will explore the El Dorado River aboard skiffs in search of the elusive pink and grey river dolphin. On the river you will be able to observe the abundant wildlife as your naturalist guide points out squirrel monkeys, parrots, hummingbirds and iguanas, among other flora and fauna.

Day 3
Saturday
After breakfast, enjoy a guided hike through San Isidro, a flooded ecosystem that is home to canopy trees that can reach up to 55 meters in height. The pristine environment here is arguably one of the richest habitats in the world and supports a wide range of flora and fauna. As you hike the bilingual naturalist guides will help you identify medicinal plants and a variety of birds. Returning to the M/V Delfin, enjoy lunch and the early afternoon at your leisure.
This afternoon return to the Delfin I for lunch and some time at leisure before enjoying an exploration aboard the skiffs of the Pacaya River. As it becomes dark you will enjoy a guided night safari as you search for the nocturnal wildlife of the Amazon including spectacled and black caimans.

Day 4
Sunday
This morning after breakfast board the skiffs in search of shore birds including sandpipers and terns. Returning to the M/V Delfin I the vessel will navigate down the Puinahua River as you enjoy lunch and some time at leisure.
After lunch, board the skiffs to visit a local riverside community to interact with the villagers and observe their daily lives. This is a good time to bring along any small gifts that you may like to offer including pencils and colored crayons for the children.

Day 5
Monday
This morning after breakfast you will visit the village of Puerto Miguel to learn about their culture and traditions; you may also enjoy the unique opportunity to visit one of the local homes. Returning to the M/V Delfin I there will be time to pack and enjoy dinner before disembarking at Nauta. Here you will board a bus to the Iquitos airport, stopping at the local Manatee Rescue Center en route to see these beautiful creatures up-close. Once at the airport you will board your flight to Lima, or to connect with another Yampu add-on of your choice.
