The M/V Evolution appears to be a vessel from the 1920’s but provides a supreme level of comfort and safety in match with today’s standards. This 32-passenger vessel is an expedition ship large enough to provide cozy staterooms and ample social areas including inside and outside dining. Despite her accommodating space, the Evolution provides the unique and intimate experience with nature you desire when visiting the Galapagos.

The Evolution is a 192 ft / 58.5 m. L.O.A. Cruise Ship that accommodates up to 32 passengers in 16 cabins, single or twin. Outfitted for individual passengers or charters, family departures and departures for the more active groups, she offers a mix of beautifully furnished salons, open decks and private areas for those looking for a close experience with the surrounding environment.

These ship itineraries alternate every two weeks due to Galapagos National Park regulations, Galapagos cruises are not permitted to visit the same island within a two week period. This itinerary is available every two weeks; please check with your Yampu travel consultant for applicable travel dates.

Day 1

Saturday
Today we will take flight from Ecuador's mainland to Baltra. Upon arrival we will be greeted for airport reception and transferred to the M/V Evolution to begin our Galapagos adventure.

Bartolome Island
This island is perhaps the most photographed location in the entire archipelago. As we arrive on the island we see volcanic formations including lava bombs, spatter, and cinder cones. We make a dry landing and walk to the top of the island in order to see the most famous Galapagos vista: Pinnacle Rock & Santiago Island. This is a steep climb aided by a wooden staircase, but the view from the top is well worth the effort. After returning to the dingy we ride around Pinnacle Rock for our first chance to see the small Galapagos penguins. Before returning to our boat there is time for an optional swim or snorkel.

Day 2

Sunday
Vicente Roca Point, Isabela Island
Vicente Roca Point is made up of two separate coves and located on the north-western coast of Isabela. Today we will be able to explore the large bay that is home to seahorses, sea turtles, and the Mola-mola (sunfish). There will be an opportunity to snorkel and swim.

Punta Espinoza, Fernandina Island
Today we visit the archipelago’s youngest island, Fernandina. This island has the most active volcano in the Galapagos with eruptions occurring every few years. Punta Espinoza has a fascinating combination of barrenness and abundance of wildlife that we will observe during a brief one-mile walk. The island has no introduced animals and therefore has a very unique environment with a high density of marine iguanas, sea lions, sally-light foot crabs, flightless cormorants, Galapagos penguins, and Galapagos hawks. The lava terrain on the island calls for good walking shoes.

Day 3

Monday
Urbina Bay, Isabela Island
Urbina Bay is located on the central-west coast of Isabela Island at the foothills of Volcanoes Alcedo and Darwin. After a wet landing on the dark, volcanic sand beach we will walk further inland with a good possibility of seeing giant tortoises in their natural habitat. The inland is also an excellent nesting ground for the large and colorful land iguanas while flightless cormorants, blue-footed boobies, and penguins can all be seen along the rocky shoreline. Afterward we have the opportunity to swim or snorkel.

Elizabeth Bay, Isabela Island
We explore this beautiful bay by dingy while Galapagos hawks soar overhead and schools of pompanos and dorados can be seen swimming underneath the boat. The ride continues to a red mangrove cove passing through red root and green leaf breeding grounds for fish and sea turtles. Here we can also see brown pelicans, flightless cormorants, spotted eagle rays, golden rays, and sea lions.

Day 4

Tuesday
Puerto Villamil, Isabela Island
Located on the southeastern coast of Isabela Island is Puerto Villamil, the island’s main settlement. We take time to enjoy the peaceful island town and its laidback atmosphere. Puerto Villamil offers a different experience than the tourist shops on Santa Cruz and is often considered the most beautiful site in the Galapagos due to the long white sandy beaches lined with palm trees.

Sierra Negra, Isabela Island
Today we visit the active Sierra Negra Volcano.

Day 5

Wednesday
Charles Darwin Research Center, Santa Cruz Island
We make a dry landing to visit the Charles Darwin Station and its interpretive center. Here we witness the efforts and results of the ongoing field work conducted in the name of science. While on the island we have the chance to stroll the main street of Puerto Ayora and browse the many local handicraft shops.

Highlands, Santa Cruz Island
We disembark to board a bus taking us to the Highlands of Santa Cruz. Here we visit the native forest and the twin craters. The island is a good place to view the giant tortoise in their natural habitat and we have the opportunity to visit one of the island’s lava tunnels.

Day 6

Thursday
Baroness’s Outlook, Floreana Island
This is the perfect place to take in the environment that defines Floreana. Here we can sit and hear the story of the Baroness and the history of her three lovers.

Post Office Bay, Floreana Island
We make a wet landing on Post Office Bay to visit the oldest postal system in the world. From this remote archipelago send letters to friends and family around the world.

Day 7

Friday
Punta Suarez, Espanola Island
Today we will visit this rocky point that is home to impressive and varied colonies of Galapagos seabirds. Along its southern shore, high cliffs rise up from the sea affording the visitor spectacular views of soaring birds and of the blow whole where water spouts up to 50-75 feet into the air according to the intensity of the surf.

Gardner Bay, Espanola Island
Gardner bay is located on the eastern shore of Espanola Island. After a wet landing we will walk the seemingly endless stretch of white sandy beach that is home to large colonies of sea lions. There is no trail to follow on Gardner Bay so the afternoon is at your leisure to swim, snorkel, explore, or relax.

Day 8

Saturday
Interpretation Center, San Cristobal
Today we will visit the Interpretation Center opened in 1998. The Center explores the history of the archipelago from its volcanic origins to present, representing the natural and cultural history of the Galapagos.

Today we will transfer to San Cristobal airport for our flight back to Ecuador's mainland to connect with another Yampu add-on of your choice.

Yampu only offers the M/V Evolution as an add-on to our highlight programs. If booking alone, booking fee may apply. Prices include air transportation from Quito or Guayaquil to Galapagos return, 7 nights accommodation on the M/V Evolution including all meals, bilingual naturalist guide, and all planned tours. Rates also include $100 Galapagos National Park entrance fee as a contribution to the preservation of the Park and $10 Transit Control Card.

Gratuities, fuel surcharges and local airport taxes that are payable in the country of destination are also not included. Taxes and security fees that can be paid at time of ticketing are already included in the quote.
