Day 1
Day flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you will be met by one of our representatives who will give you all of your necessary documents and assist you with check-in at your airport hotel, the Ramada Costa del Sol.
Day 2
This morning you will walk across the sky bridge from your hotel to the Lima airport where you will check in for your early morning flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival in Cuzco, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the Sacred Valley. Dropping in altitude, you will enjoy the peaceful countryside as you make your way to your lodging, the Urubamba Villa Sonia. Upon arrival, we will also brief you on available excursions in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon, we will take you to the town of Pisac where you will visit it’s authentic and traditional Indian Market. After shopping through the many colorful stalls, you can take in the afternoon sunshine as you watch vendors press oranges for refreshing glasses of juice.
In the evening, after you settle in and rest a bit, you will have a 3-hour private Spanish lesson in the comfort of your villa. Dinner will be prepared for you in the villa as you're ending your lesson.
Day 3
Full day of adventure in the Sacred Valley. Please pick from one of the excursions below (one included). Options for adventure trips include: River Rafting, Mountain Biking, ATVing, Canyoning, Horseback Riding, Kayaking, Rappelling and Rock-climbing.
Day 4
This morning you will be transferred to the train station. Surrounded by windows, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains and river as you make your way to the town of Aguas Calientes onboard the Vistadome train. From here, we will board a bus to Machu Picchu. We will then have a private, guided tour of the ruins. Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, was a flourishing ceremonial and agricultural site, thought to be the gateway to the jungle marshes of the Inca Empire. You will have time to enjoy a light lunch or snack and return to your hotel at your leisure.
This afternoon you can take a walk through the orchid garden on the hotel grounds. This garden holds a world record of having the most different orchids in bloom; 372 in total. They have a range that includes the world's largest orchid to tiny blooms that are best appreciated through a magnifying glass.
In the evening, you will enjoy a wonderful dinner at the hotel. Overnight in a comfortable suite at the Machu Picchu Inkaterra Hotel.
Note: Government regulations limit the number of visitors to Machu Picchu daily. Entrance is subject to availability. Please book with plenty of notice so we may confirm your entrance to the ruins.
Day 5
Aguas Calientes
Day at leisure. You may choose to return to Machu Picchu, hike Huayna Picchu or relax in the village of Aguas Calientes and its hot springs. In the afternoon, we will board the train to return to Cuzco. Upon arrival, train station reception and transfer to your hotel.
Note: Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu on this day are not included. Please contact your Yampu travel consultant if you think you would like to go back to the ruins or hike the Huayna Picchu at time of booking (subject to availability).
We also recommend a visit to the Spectacled Bear Project, an effort designed to recover bears that have been negatively affected by human impact and to reintroduce them into their natural habitat. Once common throughout the Andes, the spectacled bear is now critically endangered. Visits to the project are organized with advanced coordination to gain insight into the world of these large mammals (the only bear species in South America), and learn about the challenges they face to survive in today's world.(included excursion from your hotel Pueblo) In the afternoon, we will board the train to return to Cuzco. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 6
On this day you will choose between two tours, a private walking tour or a mountain bike tour of Cuzco.
Private walking tour of Cuzco: We will meander through this mystical city, a blend of Inca and colonial architecture. We will visit the Korikancha Temple or Temple of the Sun; visit the Cathedral and its Art Museum, the artisans' quarter of San Blas. After the walking tour, we will board our vehicle to visit the nearby water shrine of Tambomachay (the Inca Fountains), Puca Pucara (the Red Fortress), the amphitheater of Kenko and finally the Sacsahuaman Fortress. Return to your hotel for evening at leisure in Cuzco.
Mountain biking tour of Cuzco: We will begin by cycling to Sacsayhuaman and other archaeological sites in the surrounding area: Quenqo, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay, finishing in the main square of Cuzco. Included: private round-trip transportation, professional English speaking guide, bicycle with front suspension, helmet, gloves and lunch-box.
Day 7
Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. You will have the option to choose from two afternoon tours, a city tour of Lima or a tour of Miraflores, San Isidro Olivar Park and Barranco.
Tour of Miraflores, San Isidro Olivar Park and Barranco: After check in at the hotel we will depart for Parque Olivar in San Isidro. We will take a stroll through 450 year old Olive trees. We continue on from here to Miraflores. Here we will visit Parque del Amor. This park was opened on Valentines Day in 1993 and features a statue of two lovers embraced. The park runs along the avenue with views of the Pacific Ocean. You will have the choice here to walk around Larco Mar, a mall built into the side of a cliff, or continue on for more sightseeing in the quaint neighborhood of Barranco. Stroll through the lovely walkway to the sea that runs through Barranco. Cross over a walkway bordered on both sides by grand houses. Beyond the bridge is a park with a statue of Chabuca Granda, Barranco's famous singer and composer. Return to your hotel.
Lima city tour: Lima has always been one of the most important cities in South America since its founding in 1535. We will visit famous landmarks such as the San Francisco Monastery and its unique cloisters, the Plaza de Armas with the Goverment Palace and the Cathedral, and the Court of the Inquisition.
At night you will be taken to the one of Lima’s best and most majestic restaurants, La Rosa Nautica, for a farewell dinner overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Day 8
Transfer to the airport to take the flight back home, or overlap with the add-on of your choice.
