Malawi is a landlocked country, running down the end of the Great Rift Valley. Malawi is dominated by Lake Malawi, which is the third largest lake in Africa and is surrounded by exceptionally beautiful scenery that includes rocky outcrops, high mountains, and plateaus.

Malawi is known as the “Friendly Heart of Africa” and as a people the Malawians live up to this name. They are extremely friendly and welcoming. In Malawi you will find many market scenes, road-side stalls, and cottage industries that visitors can comfortably visit. Carrying both great culture and inspiring scenery makes Malawi a very desirable location to travel to.

Our 3 star option is the Mumbo Island Camp, which is located on an island on the southern end of Lake Malawi. Please note that this camp does not have electricity but is lit with hurricane lamps and water is fire-heated. Each room has a thatched roof and the tents are mosquito proof. Each accommodation type (tent or room) is fully furnished with its own shaded view-deck and hammock, all of which blends seamlessly into the lush foliage.

Our 4 star option is Kaya Mawa, which is located on Likoma island, the larger of two small islands located in the north-east of Lake Malawi, also very close to Mozambique. Around this island are sandy beaches, rocky coves and crystal clear waters making the diving and snorkeling some of the best in Malawi. This lodge is located at the southwestern tip of the island at the head of a bay. All of the cottages have private terraces with direct access to the water and some are reached only by walk ways over the lake.

Our 5 star option is Pumulani, which is located on the western side of the Nankumba Peninsula in the southern area of Lake Malawi. The peninsula is recognized as having one of the most beautiful beaches on the lake and additionally borders Lake Malawi National Park. Birdwatching at this lodge is divine, and there are multiple village walks available to those who would like to become acquainted with true African life. This lodge defines luxury.
