Enjoy 3 days in big and bustling Mexico City. You will visit the ruins of Teotihuacán and other cultural sites. Continue from there to Oaxaca in southern Mexico, where you can explore the area and visit the ruins of Monte Alban—one of the earliest cities of Mesoamerica.

Day 1

Upon arrival in Mexico City, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon of leisure or choose from optional excursions.

Day 2

In the morning we depart the city, heading to the breathtaking archeological site of Teotihuacán. By the afternoon, following a tour of the ruins, we return to Mexico City to visit the first quarter—el Zocalo. Mexico City is also known as the Ciudad de los Palacios (City of Palaces). The tour continues in the main square, where we will visit some colonial palaces like the Palacio Nacional, the Metropolitan Cathedral and other beautiful architectural jewels, and walk through the main streets. On we continue to the Paseo de la Reforma to admire its monuments and buildings. This includes the Angel of Independence, one of the most familiar landmarks in the city.

Day 3

The Villa of Coyoacán is located in the south part of the city. Enjoy a private tour where we will visit the “blue house,” as it is also known, where Frida Kahlo used to live. This extraordinary painter was born and raised here. Now it is a museum, where some of her artworks and personal belongings are displayed. The tour continues in Coyoacán’s main plaza—one of the first quarters built during Hernán Cortes’ government. Beautiful architecture can be seen in many colonial buildings and houses throughout this residential area. The Leon Trotsky Museum is located close to that of Frida Kahlo. It is an old house, where Trotsky lived after being expelled from Russia and where he lived in exile.

Day 4

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to one of the most traditional states in the country: Oaxaca, in southern Mexico. We will be waiting for you there to take you to your hotel. You will have an opportunity to explore the center of this beautiful colonial city.

Day 5

Enjoy a full-day excursion to the impressive archeological sites of Monte Alban and Mitla. Today, Mitla is a popular destination for tourists to Oaxaca. It has a small museum and hosts a large outdoor market. Many of the townspeople speak a form of the Zapotec language.

Day 6

Enjoy a full-day city tour of Oaxaca. Optional Oaxacan cuisine cooking course available: not included in price.

Day 7

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Mexico City and connect with flight home.
