Amboseli and Masai Mara with Rwanda Gorilla Tracking
|
|
This trip offers the opportunity to go on safari in two of Kenya’s most pristine parks and reserves, with the addition of gorilla tracking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. While in Kenya, experience Amboseli, which boasts the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Masai Mara, the home of Africa’s largest animal migration.
You will take game drives in Amboseli, especially known for it’s elephants and buffalo, as the breeding grounds for these animals are located in Amboseli. The spectacular scenery and the wide variety of animals that roam this park offer great photographic opportunities.
After Amboseli you head straight to the Masai Mara, where you will take games drives and view the Mara’s vast rolling plains, alive with an abundance of wildlife such as lions, elephants, and giraffe, among so many others. You will also have the opportunity to visit a local Maasai village to experience the local traditions and culture.
The Parc National des Volcans is part of the Virunga Conservation Area and covers more than 125 square kilometres. Parc National des Volcans is home of five Virunga volcanoes; Sabyinyo, Gahinga, Bisoke, Muhabura, and the highest, Karisimbi, and the area is well known for its gorilla population.
The Virunga ecosystem is composed of 4 major vegetation zones: bamboo at the lowest altitude, Hagenia and Hypericum forest around the bottom of the volcanoes, Sub-alpine in the higher altitudes, and Afro-alpine at the highest altitudes. The mountain gorillas spend most of their time in the hagenia woodlands and bamboo forests. During the rainy season when new bamboo shoots are growing, the gorillas spend more time foraging in the bamboo forests. The climb to the natural habitat of bamboo forest and Hagenia woodlands offers fantastic views.
