The Amazon Rainforest is mostly inaccessible by road, making travel there an adventure in itself. On the Amazon Clipper Cruise, you will spend four days navigating the word’s biggest river and its tributaries. Here you will see nature at its finest, especially at dawn and dusk. Yampu travelers will hike in the forest and go fishing, bird watching, and swimming. You have the option to take the Amazon Clipper Premium Cruise that offers the Amazon’s best small-ship cruising. The trip includes a visit to Brazil’s second largest city, Rio de Janeiro.

Deluxe option available in Rio de Janeiro at the majestic Copacabana Palace or the brand new Fasano Hotel in Ipanema Beach, and in Manaus with a deluxe room at the Tropical Manaus Hotel.

On the Amazon Clipper Cruise, deluxe option includes the Amazon Clipper “Premium”, with 16 spacious all outside cabins with lower beds and individual air-conditioning. You may also upgrade to the Amazon Clipper Premium from any category hotel for a surcharge of $224 per person/double occupancy or $369 per person/single occupancy.

This tour includes airfare allowance from Miami (US), on non-holiday dates. You do not need to fly via Miami; Yampu will fly you the most direct way to your city of destination. Depending on your travel dates and proximity of travel, we will quote you the most economical surcharge from your city or country of origin.

Day 1

Saturday: Overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro.

Day 2

Sunday: Upon arrival in Rio, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
Note: check-in is normally after 2 pm. Early check-in may be granted subject to availability (not confirmed).

Day 3

Monday: Full-day Sugar Loaf, Corcovado Mountain and Tijuca rainforest
Drive along Rio’s famous beaches to the Praia Vermelha cable car station, where you will be taken to the Urca Mountain (mid-way station) with its gardens and lookout points. Then, the second part of the ride will take you to the peak of Sugar Loaf Mountain, 1,300 feet above sea level. Continue to the Cosme Velho train station. The cogwheel train will climb up through the Tijuca rainforest and will bring you to the steps of the Christ statue. At 2,300 feet above sea level, it is a breathtaking view of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Guanabara Bay, Sugar Loaf Mountain, the nine-mile Rio-Niterói Bridge, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. Lunch included.
Note: This is a group tour and may involve wait times picking up other passengers at different hotels. We recommend that this tour be done privately in order to avoid this, at an additional cost of $170 per person, based on two people ($425 based on one person).

Day 4

Tuesday: Day free to enjoy Rio, or choose from one of our optional day tours
Tonight, enjoy Rio by night! The night tour includes dinner at a barbecue restaurant followed by a Brazilian music presentation at Rio Scenarium. Rio Scenarium is one of the premier places to listen to the best of Brazilian music. Located in Lapa, where the real carioca spirit of bohemian way of life can be felt. This venue is an antique shop during the day and a live music bar during the night. The programming changes every month. The clients are sophisticated listeners who really enjoy good music. After the show, around midnight, return to the hotel stuffed with tunes.
Note: Transfers are done via bus and may involve wait times picking up other passengers at different hotels. We can offer private transfers at an additional cost of $76 per person, based on two people ($152 based on one person).

Day 5

Wednesday: Morning transfer to the airport to take the flight to Manaus
Upon arrival, transfer to the pier at Tropical Hotel. Departure from landing-stage at 2:30 p.m. We will commence with a presentation on board in order to get acquainted with the staff, the route and facilities on the boat. Welcome drink. First navigation is upstream to the Pagodăo River (tributary of the Rio Negro). We will then take a canoe trip shortly before sunset, returning after dark, with the possibility of observing nocturnal animals and perceiving the change in the forest as night falls. Dinner on board.

Day 6

Thursday: Early breakfast. We will take a walk in the forest with a specialist guide, and visit a “Caboclo” family in order to see the local way of life. Lunch on board. We will then navigate through the navilhanas, the world’s largest freshwater archipelago, more than 1,000 miles from the ocean. After dinner, we will take a night trip to see caimans and possibly frogs, sloths, snakes, and other species, depending on the season.

Day 7

Friday: Visit to the village of Novo Airăo, with its handicraft boat yards, sawmills, market and other activities. Lunch on board. We will then navigate to Praia Grande or another white sand beach. If conditions permit, we will be able to take a swim in the river and observe the vegetation of the sandy areas. In the afternoon, we will take a canoe trip in Lake Acajituba or an adjacent lake to see typical flora (rubber trees, Brazil nuts, useful palm trees of various types). We will then go fishing for piranhas and other types of fish. After dinner, we will take a night trip to observe caimans. Navigation.

Day 8

Saturday: Canoe trip at sunrise for bird watching at Lake January and Eco-reserve, discovering the flood plain forest and lakes with giant water lilies (when in season). After breakfast, we will head back to Manaus through the “Meeting of the Waters.” We will return to the Tropical Hotel landing-stage, with fine views of Manaus’ waterfront, at around 11:30 a.m. Transfer to your hotel.

This afternoon, we depart from our hotel and drive 18 km (10 miles) on Ponta Negra road. Our first stop is the Opera House (Teatro Amazonas) that opened in 1896, one of the more popular attractions of Manaus. Wandering through the Opera House we will enjoy the grandiose of the building, and its rich décor and art work. Leaving the Opera House, we pause in front of Palacio Rio Negro, a beautiful example of the architecture prevalent during the golden period when rubber created many riches for the area (1809 to 1910). We continue on to visit the Indian Museum where we will explore the traditions, customs, and habits of the indigenous populations of the high Negro River. Before returning to our hotel, we will visit the Municipal Market Adolpho Lisboa.

Day 9

Sunday: Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Sao Paulo and connect with the flight back home.
