The Inca Trail was the trail used to connect the four corners of the Tawantinsuyo or Inca Empire. They had a sophisticated system of communication with messengers or ‘Chasquis’, with relays every 10 miles, which worked efficiently for the transportation of messages or goods for the rulers. We will experience a small section of the trail in this tour, enjoying breathtaking views of the Andes mountain range and its snow capped peaks, the beginning of the jungle and the lost citadel of Machu Picchu. This truly is an experience not to be missed if you are in Peru.
Recently, following UNESCO recommendations, Peruvian authorities have placed restrictions on the visitation of Machu Picchu, the lost Incan ruins. Currently, no more than 2,500 people daily will be allowed to visit the ruins. While these new restrictions are great for the preservation of the ruins, they may cause some difficulties in your ability to visit them, so we recommend booking with plenty of notice.
Royal Inca Trail includes all private services. There will be a deduction if you are able to join a group in one of the dates below. Usually there are no set dates for our trips, however because of Government regulations the Inca Trail departs only on certain days and must be booked with plenty of notice. Permits may sell out about 3 or more months in advance during high season months and will be confirmed on a first come-first served basis. Passport number and date of birth must be provided at time of booking.
