Tayrona National Park
Located on Colombia’s northern Atlantic coast near Santa Marta in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Tayrona National Park is well-known for its high concentration of biodiversity and expansive grounds. The main entrance to the park, at El Zaino, leads to solitary bays, unspoiled beaches, coral reefs and mangroves.
You’ll also have the chance to take an optional day trip and check out Pueblito, the ruins of ancient, Tayrona villages. The Tayrona, descendants of the Chibcha, were one of the most advanced pre-Columbian cultures. Pueblito showcases their masterful system of terraces and canals as well as their rich culture.
Accommodation in Tayrona National Park is in Ecohabs, round, ecologically-friendly, two-floor cabins with thatched roofs (in the style of Tayrona Indian architecture). Note: All Ecohabs have private bathrooms and are set on a stone base. Please inquire about these options with one of our travel consultants.
