Both the Tip Top II & Tip Top III provides very comfortable accommodations and meals for your natural history tour of the Galapagos Islands. The fully air-conditioned boats accommodate 16 passengers in double cabins (each with private toilet and shower) and boast a bar, dining room, library, sundeck and diving platform.

The Tip Top II is an 85-foot steel hulled motor yacht built in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 1998. The Tip Top III is a 98 foot, steel-hulled motor-yacht built in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2001. Each boat has a bar, dining room, library, sundeck and diving platform.

The fully air-conditioned boats accommodate 16 passengers in double cabins, each with private toilet and shower.

Day 1

Friday
Upon arrival in Baltra you will be greeted and transferred to the Tip Top to begin your Galapagos adventure.

Charles Darwin Research Center, Santa Cruz Island
The Charles Darwin Research Center, located in Puerto Ayora, displays the efforts and results of the ongoing field work conducted in the name of science. Here you will see young turtles being raised in safety until the age of five, and the islands’ most famous turtle, Lonesome George.

Day 2

Saturday
Santa Fe Island
Santa Fe is home to a cactus forest and a colony of land iguanas that are native to the island. Here you can also see the Galapagos mockingbird, magnificent frigate, brown pelican, and several species of Darwin’s finches.

Plazas Island
Plaza Sur was originally formed by uplifted lava and the terrain includes an impressive cactus forest. On land you will see land iguanas, sea lions and several species of tropical birds.

Day 3

Sunday
Sombrero Chino (Chinese Hat)
This scenic little island gets its name from its appearance, and is home to a small colony of sea lions. Here, be on the lookout for a glimpse of then American oyster-catchers in action, marine iguanas, lava lizards, and sally light-foot crabs. This is an ideal location to enjoy snorkeling or swimming.

Rabida Island
Rabida Island has a unique color of sand due to the unusually high iron content in the volcanic material. This island is often considered the geographic center of the Galapagos because it has the most diversified volcanic rocks of the islands. Located near the beach is a salt pond that often attracts greater flamingos looking to feed on the brine shrimp in the waters. Here you can enjoy a 2-mile walk along the island’s beach to see a large colony of sea lions, marine iguanas, mockingbirds, yellow warblers, and several species of Darwin’s finches. This is a good location to swim and snorkel.

Monday
Black Turtle Cove, Santa Cruz Island
Black Turtle Cove is a peaceful a tidal lagoon where you will see three different species of mangrove plants: red, white, and black. While passing through the cove, be on the lookout for golden rays, sea turtles, white-tipped sharks, spotted rays, mustard rays, Pacific marine turtles, and possibly even seahorses clinging to the roots of the mangroves.

Cerro Dragon, Santa Cruz Island
Cerro Dragon is on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island and home to a brackish water lagoon frequented by tropical birds. Further inland the trail offers a beautiful view of the bay and the western region of the archipelago. This area is a natural nesting site for land iguanas and the arid-zone vegetation allows for regular sightings of Darwin’s finches, Galapagos mockingbirds, the endemic Galapagos flycatcher, and yellow warblers.

Day 5

Tuesday
Post Office Bay, Floreana Island
Post Office Bay is the oldest postal system in the world. From this remote archipelago send letters to friends and family around the world.

Punta Cormorant, Floreana Island Punta Cormorant is home to the Flamingo Lagoon, which holds one of the largest populations of flamingos in the Galapagos. Also on Punta Cormorant, you can visit La Picona to see the marine turtles and their spawning grounds on the beach. This is a good place for snorkelers, however avoid Devil’s Crown if snorkeling because this is an open water experience and there is no place to stand.

Day 6

Wednesday
Punta Suarez, Espanola Island
Punta Suarez is a small rocky point that is home to impressive and varied colonies of Galapagos seabirds. Along its southern shore, high cliffs rise up from the sea affording the visitor spectacular views of soaring birds and of the blow whole where water spouts up to 50-75 feet into the air according to the intensity of the surf.

Gardner Bay, Espanola Island
Gardner bay is located on the eastern shore of Espanola Island. The bay has seemingly endless stretch of white sandy beach that is home to large colonies of sea lions. This is a great place to swim, snorkel or kayak.

Day 7

Thursday
Interpretation Center, San Cristobal
The Interpretation Center opened in 1998 and explores the history of the archipelago from its volcanic origins to present, representing the natural and cultural history of the Galapagos.

Kicker Rock
Kicker Rock is a magnificent rock that jets out 500 feet high from the middle of the ocean and is shaped similar to a sleeping lion. The rock is split with towering vertical walls on either side that forms a narrow channel through which small vessels can investigate. There is no landing site here but the view from the boat will make a lasting impression.

Day 8

Friday
North Seymour Island
This island was not formed by volcanic activity but rather uplifted boulders that can be seen across the primarily flat terrain. The site is a well known nesting site for colonies of blue-footed boobies that perform a fascinating courtship dance in more open areas. North Seymour is also home to the largest colony of the magnificent frigate bird, a member of the frigate family that is known for the male’s vibrant display of red pouches in hopes of attracting a mate.

This afternoon we return to Baltra for our flight back to Ecuador's mainland.

Prices include air transportation from Quito or Guayaquil to Galapagos return, 7 nights accommodation on the Tip Top II or Tip Top III including all meals, transfers, bilingual naturalist guide, and planned tours. Not included is a $100 fee to be paid to the park as a contribution to its conservation and a $10 Transit Control Card fee which must be paid in cash upon arrival in Galapagos. Local airport taxes that are payable in the country of destination are not included. Taxes and security fees that can be paid at time of ticketing are already included in the quote (if airfare has been included in the quote).
