Trancoso, a small village on the Southern coast of Bahia, is situated on a foothill with a view of the surrounding beaches, cliffs, rivers and coconut groves. The town used to be a small village founded and greatly influenced by the Jesuits. Thanks to this influence, the city has a very specific architecture with the church surrounded by houses built very close to each other, forming a big square called “Quadrado,” which is one of the most valuable historical sites on the discovery Coast. Almost 500 years after its foundation, Trancoso is now experiencing an “invasion” of tourists from all over the world, who go to town searching for sun, sea and peace.
