Ilha Grand, literally meaning Big Island, is an island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, part of Angra dos Reis municipality. The island is largely undeveloped and noted for its scenic beauty, which includes tropical beaches, luxuriant vegetation and a rugged landscape. Beach resorts are popping up all over this island that once held a notorious prison, presently closed.

The village of Morro de Săo Paulo, on Tinhare Island, has no roads and no cars, only sandy paths. Tractors are the only vehicles helping guests carry their luggage. There are four main beaches where the water is crystal-clear, and has regularly made best-beach lists of several Brazilian magazines. The clear water around the island is ideal for scuba diving and for catching lobster, squid and other local fish. There are a number of pousadas and restaurants where you can taste the real Baiana Food. At night, relax in the village, where you can participate in the dancing and music.

Trancoso, a small village on the Southern coast of Bahia, is situated on a foothill with a view of the surrounding beaches, cliffs, rivers and coconut groves. It is 26 km from Porto Seguro and can only be accessed by unpaved road. Besides the natural beauty, the town is enjoyable for its cultural and historical legacy. The town used to be a small village founded and greatly influenced by the Jesuits. Thanks to this influence, the city has a very specific architecture with the church surrounded by houses built very close to each other, forming a big square called “Quadrado,” which is one of the most valuable historical sites on the discovery Coast.

Lençois Maranhenses National Park is a huge desert on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean with countless dunes and crystal clear lagoons. The landscape is unbelievable with Pre-Amazonic forest meeting enormous dunes that move and change shape at the winds’ will. Thousands of lakes appear as a result of the rains in the beginning of the year (here we have 300 times more rain than the Sahara). The lagoons are sometimes many kilometers long and five meters deep, giving the golden, sandy landscape a special color pattern.

Florianopolis, capital of the state of Santa Catarina, is located on the island of Santa Catarina, less than a mile from the mainland. As well as having 42 beaches, the city is surrounded by mountains, dunes and mangroves. The Azorean spirit, inherited from immigrants who settled the region 250 years ago, marks the island’s personality.The beaches of the north have calm waters and good tourist facilities. The Jurerę, Canasvieiras and Ingleses became fashionable vacations spots for locals and Argentines. On the east, Conceiçăo Lagoon and the beaches of Joaquina, Mole and Barra da Lagoa are the centers for young people and sports.

During most of its history, Itacaré was connected to cocoa production. With the declining cocoa culture, the town is now turning toward tourism. In 1998 the state government completed highway BA-001, connecting Ilhéus and Itacaré. For that reason, Itacaré has focused on the future of Eco Adventure. Surfing was the first great attraction and it was the surfers, the first tourists to discover some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, hidden by difficulty of access. Each year more and more visitors arrive in one of the most improbable places in the world experience this little piece of Bahia.

One of the most beautiful national parks in the world can be found in Bahia, Northeast of Brazil. Chapada Diamantina in located in the center of the state, and its main gateway, Lençois, is 394 Km from Salvador. For those that enjoy adventure, Chapada Diamantina is ‘Paradise on Earth’. Trekking, rappelling, diving, caving and canyoning bring excitement to every excursion. Afterwards, there’s a chance to relax in the crystal-clear waters of the many rivers and waterfalls. But it’s not just the nature that’s outstanding. Lençóis, the main town in the region, enchants every visitor with its fine colonial buildings, cobbled streets and friendly residents.

The most famous beach of Pernambuco is located 96 miles from Recife. Most of the beach, only five miles from town, is sheltered by a reef. The water is warm and clear, so you can see the colorful fish playing around your feet. There are plenty of "Jangadas", or local sailing boats, to take you to the surrounding islands. Porto de Galinhas is also famous for night life and marvelous seafood restaurants serving lobster, crab, squid, shrimp, and local fish cooked with coconut milk, pepper and cumin. The locally made "genipapo" liquor is worth tasting too.
