Kep, or Kep-sur-mer as the French called it, used to be a thriving sea side resort town during the mid 20th century. Beautiful colonial mansions and villas of Cambodia’s privileged class built in the art-deco style shaped the cityscape. During the regime of the Khmer Rouge nearly all the villas were destroyed or burned down, but the ruins still remain. In recent years, Kep has been re-invigorated and remains famous for its fresh seafood and its absolute must-try Kep Krab, straight from the ocean and onto your plate!

Discovered by French colonials searching for familiar landscapes, Sihanoukville or Kompon Som had been turned into the “Riviera of the East.” Sihanoukville truly offers the most beautiful white sand beaches in the country. Palm trees, crystal clear water, nice little bars and restaurants along the beach and charming little islands near the coastline make the beaches a fabulous place to relax after a visit to Angkor.
