Situated at 2400 meters, this small capital city rests upon a hillside overlooking a fertile valley along the banks of the Thimphu Chhu River. One of the world’s smallest capital cities and the only one without traffic lights, Thimphu is a gallery of traditional Bhutanese architecture and rich culture. Paro is home to and surrounded by some of the highest mountain peaks in the world rising out of the lush green Paro Valley. This charming and small town is situated in the center of the valley along the banks of the Paro River. Home to the magnificent Paro Dzong you can also visit the famous Taktsang Monastery amazingly built right into a cliff wall.

Arriving in Paro you will spend a few days in this small valley city with a uniquely charming atmosphere. This city is home to some of Bhutan’s most magnificent buildings including the famous Taktsang Monastery, often referred to as the Tiger’s Nest. Spend the other half of your trip in Thimphu, here you will soak in the rich Bhutanese culture as you visit many of its renowned museums, temples and chortens.
