Cuiaba is located in the state of Mato Grosso, in the heart of the Pantanal. It is a lively place and a good base for excursions into the Pantanal and the Chapada dos Guimaraes. Because of its proximity to Bolivia, it is also a good rest stop on the way to this neighboring country.

The Araras Ranch Eco Lodge is located in the Pantanal or Wetlands, arguably the best place to see wild life in Brazil.
