This Yampu tour includes a visit to San Pedro de Sula and the Fortress of San Fernando de Omoa and Puerto Cortes. We will spend two nights in Copán, the site of a remarkable series of processional Mayan portraits in the central plaza and the nearby acropolis. We will also visit the Copán Museum and the Hacienda San Lucas. The tour includes trips to the Lancetilla Botanical Gardens, the Jeannette Kawas National Park, the Pico Bonito National Park, the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge and the commercial/agricultural hub of La Ceiba.

This tour starts in Antigua Guatemala, as we tour the old city. We will then travel to Lake Atitlán, stay one night beside the lake and visit the Maya towns nearby. Yampu travelers will visit the famous Indian market at Chichicastenango before flying to Flores. There, we will to visit Tikal for 2 days. Tikal, one of the major cultural and population centers of Maya civilization, reached its peak during the Classic Period (200 to 850 AD). This trip will take you to Guatemala where we will see Lake Atitlán, the deepest lake in Central America and the Mayan towns of the surrounding area. Then to Tikal, the largest site of remaining Mayan ruins set deep in the Guatemalan rainforest. We then travel to Mexico to visit Palenque, where Mayan lords once ruled the land. Then, follow winding jungle roads to the highlands to visit San Cristobal de las Casas. Afterwards, we head north to Uxmal and the pyramids of Chichen-Itza.

This multi-country tour will guide Yampu travelers from Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands to Peru and Machu Picchu with an added excursion to the mystical Nazca Lines and to Mexico’s Mayan Ruins. We cruise the Galapagos Islands for five days. In Peru, we visit the mysterious Nazca Lines before traveling by train to the mountain citadel of Machu Picchu. Flying to Mexico, we will take you to the sparkling blue waters of the Caribbean with stops at the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum.
