I returned home safe and sound on Sunday. Thank you very much for organizing a most successful overland trip through Central America. I am thinking seriously about a third overland trip through South America in the next year or so. Thank you again for arranging a very successful and most enjoyable itinerary. The trip was amazing and we had a great time. We particularly loved the hotel and the whole of Guatemala. We also loved the springs resort and spa, and Pelican Eyes. La Tortuga was fine and quite cute – rooms a bit small though. All the guides were fantastic and no worries with any of them – all transfers went very well. Thanks it was a really great trip!

Just a quick note to say that I’m back and that I had a great time in Guatemala and Honduras. I think the highlight was Guatemala (including the Copán site as part of that country, too, even tho’ it’s over the border). The Mayan sites really were something. The volcano was great, too. All the guides were good and interesting in their own ways (I had a number, of course), but I particularly liked Kristof , a Swiss guy who took me up the Volcan, and Sarah, the American-Mayan guide at Atitlán.

Hotels: all good. It was pretty sticky at Flores, and I was grateful for the AC in that hotel. The bus journey to the border was OK— I was on my own at that point, and using my emergency-level Spanish but things worked out.

The security situation is, of course, more obvious than it would be in a “developed” nation, but you quickly get used to it. I now expect to see a soldier with a shotgun near each of our Lincoln ATMs….

Again, thanks for organizing this trip—a fascinating and entirely memorable tour.
