Enjoy a brief introduction to Belo Horizonte and Ouro Preto, among two of the richest cultural and historical assets in all of Brazil. This itinerary includes a private city tour of Belo Horizonte before transferring to Ouro Preto for two nights. Ouro Preto, at 4,000 feet, is a small town designated a World Heritage of Mankind Site by Unesco. Here you will enjoy a full tour of the beautiful city that once bore witness to Brazil’s “Golden Age” during the gold mining boom.
Day 1
Upon arrival in Belo Horizonte you will be greeted for airport reception. Immediately following, enjoy a city tour of Belo Horizonte including the Liberty Square, the Cathedral, the Historic Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. You will also visit the Chapel of Săo Francisco, built by Oscar Niemeyer and decorated with paintings by Portinari, before transferring to your hotel in Ouro Preto for an evening at leisure.
Day 2
Today enjoy a full tour of Ouro Preto, officially recognized by UNESCO in 1980 as a Cultural Heritage site. You will visit the Museum of Inconfidence, the Church of Săo Francisco de Assis and the former Governor’s Palace, home to the world’s second largest mineralogical collection. This tour also includes a visit to the world’s largest collection of Baroque art. Lunch is included today. After your tour you will return to your hotel for an evening at your leisure in Ouro Preto.
Day 3
Today you will return to Belo Horizonte and transfer to the airport to continue your trip, or overlap with the Yampu add-on of your choice.
