Tucked away on the eastern slopes of the Volcan Barú is the small and charming mountain village of Boquete. It is known to produce some of the sweetest oranges and richest coffees in all of Panama and has an everlasting spring-like climate.

Panama City, with over 700,000 inhabitants, is the political, administrative and cultural center of the country. It has both historical and ultra-modern features. The city has numerous modern tourist attractions with the Panama Canal as being the 8th wonder of the modern world! But you will also find large shopping malls, jewellery at an affordable price, world-class hotels and restaurants. For most people, the New York-like skyline in Panama City is what reflects the modernity of the city the most.

Accommodation in this tour is first class. In Panama City, we will be staying at Hotel Deville located in the financial heart of Panama and designed for a select clientele accustomed to the finest in service and personalized attention. All the rooms are Suites, equipped with two telephone lines plus direct internet access via a special high speed line.

In Boquete, we will be staying in a junior suite at Hotel Panamonte a charming hotel that was founded in 1928 and renowned for its gourmet restaurant. The ambience is very much like a European B&B with stunning gardens and charming details that make the accommodations warm and inviting. The elegant fireside bar & lounge features a large, open entrance with an outdoor annex. This outdoor area also has a fireplace and seating.

Panama Canal Transit Market operates only on Saturdays, so ideal start date for this trip is Friday.

Day 1

Panama City
Day flight to Panama City. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

Panama City - Panama Canal
(Only Saturdays) After breakfast, transfer to Flamenco Marina for our Panama Canal Partial transit check-in. At this point, you will depart to Gamboa Town (Panama Canal Mid-section) by bus (45 minutes transfer). Upon your arrival to Gamboa Dredging Division, you will start your excursion through Gatun Lake located at 85 feet about sea level. You will be passing by Gaillard Cut also known as Culebra Cut because its curves resemble a snake and is one of the main points of interest for visitors because it was carved through the Continental Divide.

Once at Gatun Lake you will sail through at the north end of the Gaillard Cut 13.7 kilometers on the way to Pedro Miguel Locks. In addition, you will observe the brand new construction among the Panama Canal, the Centennial Bridge, and then the boat will start to be lowered 27 feetin Pedro Miguel Locks and then enter Miraflores Lake, which is a small artificial body of fresh water that separates Pedro Miguel from Miraflores Locks. Next, the Pacific Queen will enter Miraflores Locks, where the boat will be lowered the last 54 feet until reach the Pacific Ocean.

You will be passing under the Bridge of the Americas and will be able to admire the Bay of Panama and Panama Citys splendorous skyline. The boat will disembark at Flamenco Marina where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. NOTE: this is a southbound transit. In some occasions the transit will done the way around.

Day 3

Panana City - Boquete
Morning City Tour of Panama. We will visit Panama Viejo, the first city founded in the isthmus by Spanish conquerors at the beginning of colonization. The remaining ruins are the ones left by Pirate Henry Morgan, who sacked the town in 1671. We will then head to the second colonial city of Panama, Casco Viejo, built in 1673 and will walk around the French Plaza and its monuments. The architecture of thisarea is exquisite including French, Italian and Spanish styles. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport to take your flight to David. Upon arrival to the airport, transfer to Boquete Mountain Town and to your hotel Panamonte.

Day 4

Boquete
Coffee Tour. Boquete is home to a number of “specialty” or gourmet coffee farms. You can take a fascinating tour of a coffee farm and the processing plants which prepare the coffee bean for consumption. The coffee farms are set on beautiful mountainsides with the coffee bushes growing in banks on steep slopes. All tours end with a delicious cup of gourmet coffee or a “cupping” which is the coffee equivalent of a wine tasting.

Day 5

Boquete
Boquete Tree Trek. Today you will enjoy a canopy tour for a thrilling traverse through the trees. Well zip on cables from platform to platform through a century-old cloud forest. The forest is set high above a gurgling river with cascading waterfalls that drip from canyon walls. 3 kilometers in total length divided in 11 different zip-line cables. After the tour, transfer back to the hotel.

Day 6

Boquete
Day at leisure to explore the highlands. Optional tours available such as hiking trail, rafting, coffee tours, drive to Volcan Baru or visit the pre-columbian ruins at Sitio Barriles.

Day 7

Boquete – Panama City
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to take your flight back to Panama City and connect with your flight back home.
