Some did find gold or diamonds, but the greatest fortune of Chapada cannot be measured in carats – it’s the immense natural beauty, which has been protected by law since 1985, with the establishment of Chapada Diamantina National Park.

Chapada Diamantina National Park is one of the most amazing parks located in the center of Bahia, at northeast of Brazil. Chapada Diamantina is a paradice for eco adventurers: trekking, rappelling, diving and other activities can be practiced in this National Park. There is also the chance to relax in clear water natural pools, rivers and waterfalls.

Day 1

Departing from Salvador, early transfer (6am) to bus station to catch our bus to Lençóis (254.14 mi) at 7am. Upon arrival, we will get some time to have lunch before we will visit “Morro do Pai Inácio”. Return to your hotel, after the sunset.

One of Chapada Diamantina’s main highlight is the Morro do Pai Inácio (Father Ignacio’s Hill) from where it is possible to have some of the most spectacular views including the flat-topped mountains that are very common in this region.

Day 2

After breakfast, full day hike from Lençóis to Capão Valley (15 km – 5 to 6 hours). We will make some stops along the way including a point where we can see Lençóis and the impressive Morrão. We will enjoy our Lunch box on the way. Overnight at Capão Valley.

Day 3

Morning transfer to “Cachoeira da Fumaça” (Smoke Falls) the highest waterfall in Brazil. With a 340 meter’s drop, the wind spreads the water and even carries it upwards, creating a curtain of droplets looking like smoke. Once there, we will hike to the top (2 hours each way). Upon arrival, we have our lunch box and then rest before we walk our way down. Overnight at Capão Valley.

Day 4

After breakfast, full day hike to Guiné (6 hours). This is probably the most beautiful hike at Chapada Diamantina National Park. We will have our lunch box on the way. At the end, transfer to Mucugê (40 min). Overnight in Mucugê.

Day 5

After breakfast, transfer to the Poco Azul entrance (1.5 hours). We will visit the Blue Pool – a crystal-water lake in a cave. The lightning changes according to the sun’s position. After lunch transfer to Igat and overnight.

Day 6

Transfer to Lençóis (1.5 hours) to take the bus back to Salvador. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport to take flight back to your destination.
