Fernando de Noronha is an archipelago 220 miles off the northeastern coast of Brazil. is a Marine National Park located 200 miles off the northeastern coast of Brazil. Noronha is a mountainous archipelago of volcanic origin that was wonderfully shaped into one large island and 20 smaller ones. Their beautiful sandy beaches and crystal-clear water host the most diverse marine life in Brazil. The archipelago is a world-class dive destination and a heavenly retreat for underwater pleasures, with warm (28C) and clear (with 30 meters visibility ) waters. Due to its open ocean location, which provides pelagic fish and ocean mammals a refuge, and the strict protections placed on this national park by the Brazilian environmental protection agency, we can guarantee the fish will be there when you are. The archipelago is a protected Marine National Park and the protection acts have allowed amazing wildlife both under and above water. While snorkeling and diving are the main attractions, the island is home to two endemic species of birds and several endemic species of flora.

The dive sites include a wreck dive, caverns, amazing coral and volcanic rock formations, an array of reef sharks, rare green and comb turtles of up to 660 pounds, schooling barracuda, all kinds of rays and schooling reef fishes of every kind and color, and wild dolphins. Fernando de Noronha Islands are divided into two parts: Mar de Fora (“Outside ocean”) and Mar de Dentro (“Inside Ocean”). The inside ocean, which is where the islands surrounding the coast are located, has very calm waters between April and November and between December and March it experiences some waves lessening visibility. The outside ocean always has clearer visibility than the inside ocean, yet dive success still greatly depends on ocean conditions and time of year. The best conditions are normally between November and July.

Accommodations are Pousadas that are small hotels without traditional star ratings. We have categorized the pousadas in ratings according to our opinion and personal experience.

For beginners, the best season for snorkeling and scuba diving is from July to December. The rainy season in Fernando de Noronha arrives from April to June.

Day 1

Upon arrival in Recife, airport reception and transfer to your hotel in Fernando de Noronha. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure to become acquainted with this beautiful location.

Day 2

This morning we will pick you up at your hotel for a tour of the island in 4x4s. We will travel to various outlooks for impressive views of the archipelago stopping along the way Baia do Sancho to visit the natural swimming pools and Atalaia beach. After the tour we return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 3

This morning we transfer from the hotel to the waters for our scuba diving expedition. The pristine visibility allows you to observe the dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine life close up in their natural habitat. Note: The location is subject to change due to weather conditions and the local environmental authority.
After, we return to our hotel for an afternoon of leisure. This evening we suggest enjoying a memorable and romantic dinner at the beach underneath the stars.

Day 4

Enjoy today at your leisure. We suggest participating in an early morning hike to Dolphin Overlook where we can spot the dolphins returning from the open ocean as the sun rises over the cliffs.

Day 5

Enjoy the morning at your leisure. This afternoon we return to the airport for our flight back to Recife.

Price includes round-trip airfare from Recife to Fernando de Noronoha, round-trip ground transfer, 4 night hotel accommodation and breakfast, and 1/2 day scuba excursion with rental equipment included*. Does not include local airport taxes which must be paid locally. Also not included is the obligatory environmental tax paid as a donation to the conservation of the area.

Diving tours

*These tours are for experienced divers. International dive certificate will be required. Each tour includes 2 stops in different diving spots (depending on the ocean conditions), 2 dive cylinders and balast belt, transfer to/from the pousada, and English speaking dive master. Tours on regular basis in boats adapted for diving and taking reduced diver groups Duration of the tour: aprox. 4 hours

Some of the best dive spots in Noronha are:

Laje Dois Irmăos – Swim with the juvenile sharks at Laje Dois Irmăos. Due to the location of Noronha between Brazil and Africa and the currents that move through the Atlantic, Noronha is a breeding/nursery area for 14 species of reef sharks. The sharks come into this protected area to have their babies and the babies stay until they are big enough to venture into the open ocean. As you wait on the sandy bottom 79 feet under, out of the distance, about 20 to 30 will appear and swim around you. Most of them are juveniles and are simply curios kids coming in to see who is visiting.

Pedras Secas (Dry Rocks) – A wonderful dive site with excellent visibility and full of arches, canyons, small caves and big fish on top of a rocky bottom covered with life at 56 feet below. Here you will have a very good chance of seeing turtles, sharks and stingrays.

Luias – Considered one of the best dive sites in Noronha. Here you will find fascinating submerged corridors full of colourful sponges, large pelagic fish, turtles and sharks. The ocean bottom is at 79 feet under water here.

Caverna da Sapata- A big cave that is easy to get into and wide enough to look like a ballroom. The area is surrounded by a rocky coast and by lots of sponges and fish. The ocean bottom reaches 92 feet below water at this dive.

Cabeço da Sapata – Submerged tower that almost rises above the ocean surface and with which the Ipiranga corvette collided causing it to sink. At the bottom under 138 feet of water, you will find sting rays and other fishes in passing.

Ilha do Frade

This is an excellent point for sea-turtle sightings. There is a distinct difference between area surrounding the island and the open ocean.
