Day 1
Day flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you will be met by one of our representatives who will give you all of your necessary documents and assist you with check-in at your airport hotel, the Ramada Costa del Sol.
Day 2
This morning you will walk across the sky bridge from your hotel to the Lima airport where you will check in for your early morning flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival in Cuzco, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the Sacred Valley. Dropping in altitude, you will enjoy the peaceful countryside as you make your way to your lodging. Upon arrival, we will also brief you on available excursions in the Sacred Valley.
In the afternoon, we will take you to the town of Pisac where you will visit it’s authentic and traditional Indian Market. After shopping through the many colorful stalls, you can take in the afternoon sunshine as you watch vendors press oranges for refreshing glasses of juice. In the evening, after you settle in and rest a bit, you will have a 3-hour private Spanish lesson in the comfort of your suite. Dinner will be prepared for you as you're ending your lesson.
Day 3
Full day of adventure in the Sacred Valley. Please pick from one of the excursions below (one included). Options for adventure trips include: River Rafting, Mountain Biking, ATVing, Canyoning, Horseback Riding, Kayaking, Rappelling and Rock-climbing.
When you complete your adventure tour you can go and pick out a tree to plant in the community. If time allows you can come with us and plant your tree. If you are unable to go, we will plant the tree in the community for you and you will forever have given back to the land here in Peru.
Day 4
This morning you will be transferred to the train station. Surrounded by windows, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains and river as you make your way to the town of Aguas Calientes onboard the Vistadome train. From here, we will board a bus to Machu Picchu. We will then have a private, guided tour of the ruins. Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, was a flourishing ceremonial and agricultural site, thought to be the gateway to the jungle marshes of the Inca Empire. You will have time to enjoy a light lunch or snack and return to your hotel at your leisure.
This afternoon you can take a walk through the orchid garden on the hotel grounds. This garden holds a world record of having the most different orchids in bloom; 372 in total. They have a range that includes the world's largest orchid to tiny blooms that are best appreciated through a magnifying glass. In the evening, you will enjoy a wonderful dinner at the hotel. Overnight in a comfortable suite at the Machu Picchu Inkaterra Hotel.
Note: Government regulations limit the number of visitors to Machu Picchu daily. Entrance is subject to availability. Please book with plenty of notice so we may confirm your entrance to the ruins.
Day 5
Aguas Calientes
Day at leisure. You may choose to return to Machu Picchu, hike Huayna Picchu or relax in the village of Aguas Calientes and its hot springs. In the afternoon, we will board the train to return to Cuzco. Upon arrival, train station reception and transfer to your hotel.
Note: Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu on this day are not included. Please contact your Yampu travel consultant if you think you would like to go back to the ruins or hike the Huayna Picchu at time of booking (subject to availability).
We also recommend a visit to the Spectacled Bear Project, an effort designed to recover bears that have been negatively affected by human impact and to reintroduce them into their natural habitat. Once common throughout the Andes, the spectacled bear is now critically endangered. Visits to the project are organized with advanced coordination to gain insight into the world of these large mammals (the only bear species in South America), and learn about the challenges they face to survive in today's world.(included excursion from your hotel) In the afternoon, we will board the train to return to Cuzco. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Note: Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu on this day are not included. Tickets are available for purchase only in the town of Aguas Calientes, payable in local currency only. If you think you will need the tickets we recommend that you purchase these ahead of time, please ask your travel consultant if you would like these to be included for you.
Day 6
Private Cuzco Tour. Walking tour of Cuzco, visiting the Korikancha temple or Temple of the Sun, the Cathedral and its Art Museum and the artisan's quarter of San Blas. Visit Tambomachay, Puca Pucara, and Sacsahuaman Fortress, depart to the nearby water shrine of Tambomachay (the Inca Fountains), Puca Pucara (the Red Fortress), amphitheater of Kenko and finally the Sacsahuaman Fortress. After the tour of Sacsahuaman Fortress we will go horseback riding nearby. Return to your hotel for evening at leisure in Cuzco.
Day 7
Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Tour of the Bay of Lima by bike, discovering the best spots of the city. This family friendly tour will show you amazing sights around the bay, starting with Barranco, the old and bohemian neighborhood of the city, and its mansions, bars and parks. We will also visit the neighborhood of Chorrillos with its old fishing pier, beaches, and promenade and the historic Morro Solar hill. Finally, we bike through the vibrant district of Miraflores with its amazing cliff edge sidewalks and parks overlooking the ocean. We will have a snack in a traditional old bar or cafe of the area.
Children age for this tour should be 8+
Day 8
Transfer to the airport to take the flight back home, or overlap with the add-on of your choice.
