This is a truly unique experience to see the Galapagos unlike most other visitors. Instead of staying on a boat during your visit, this is a hotel-based trip that allows you to get to know Isabela Island at a comfortable pace.
As you take speed boats between the islands you may see dolphins playing beside you. During your tour you will visit the Wall of Tears, the Galapagos Turtle Center, and the Sierra Negra Volcano. This is a great way to see this part of the Galapagos.
Go Back To Galapagos Island Hopping
Day 1
Today we will arrive in Baltra where a guide will be waiting to transfer us to Puerto Ayora. Here you will have time to visit Charles Darwin Station, where we can see the breeding center of the turtles of the other islands. We will also meet the famous Lonesome George which is the only one of his kind and comes from Pinta Island.
After lunch we will transfer to the port to take the speed boat to Isabela Island, the biggest and youngest Island of the archipelago. After having arrived, we will visit the Wall of Tears in order to get to know more about the history of this island which was a prison in the past. We will also visit the breeding center of Isabela turtles, here you can find the last specie of the giant turtle, the “Geochelone Guntheri”. After we will transfer to the hotel to relax and then enjoy dinner in the center of Isabela.
Day 2
After breakfast this morning we will transfer by car to the Sierra Negra Volcano. This volcano is considered to be one of the oldest of Isabela. We will walk for about 40 minutes and then continue our way by riding horses until the crater of the volcano. With a little bit of luck, we will be able to see the sparrow hawk of the Galapagos. We will get to know the geology of the Sierra Negra Volcano. After a short break to take a quick snack, we will return to the port to get prepared for our next trip of the day: Concha Perla, where we can do some snorkeling and watch the different species of fishes, corals and resting sea turtles. Then we’ll continue with the boat along the coast watching species like: blue-footed boobies, penguins, pelicans and frigate birds. Reaching the Isle of Tintoreras, we’ll get to know the blue shark, marine iguanas and sea lions. Most of the part of this island is formed by AA lava. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Today we will visit Sucre’s Cove located at the Highlands of Isabela Island. This area is a natural tunnel surrounded by native and endemic plants. We will hike around the area and then visit El Mango viewpoint. From here you can see a panoramic view of the southern part of Isabela Island, and with some luck Floreana and Santa Cruz Islands. Afterward, we will visit an excavation that due to the rain, has formed a lagoon where Flamingos use to spend their time. This evening we will return to our hotel for dinner and leisure time.
Day 4
Early this morning we will transfer to the port to take the 2 1/2 hour boat ride back to Santa Cruz. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a guide and transferred to the airport for your flight back to Ecuador’s mainland.
