A three-day trip to explore the fabled Lake Titicaca. We take you to the Island of the Sun, the Island of the Moon and their ruins. Visit the Aymara village of Challapampa and Challa, where we will visit a cultural museum. We will also see the famous Dark Virgin and its church. Spend two nights at the tranquil Ecolodge La Estancia located on the southern shores of the Island of the Sun. The trip ends in Copacabana with the option to transfer to La Paz or Puno, Peru for other side trips.
Day 1
Transportation from La Paz or Puno to Copacabana (3 hours), boat to Island of the Sun (1 hour), land near Pilkokaina ruins and have a aptapi (traditional Aymara lunch.) Then hike one hour to Ecolodge La Estancia.
Day 2
Don’t miss an early sunrise. Boat north to the Chincana ruins (1 hour), short hike to the Challapampa, then boat to Challa, and visit a cultural museum. Hike uphill to the Ecolodge. Your afternoon is free to enjoy the peace and beauty of the area.
Day 3
Hike through Yumani in the Garden of the Incas, boat to Island of the Moon and visit its ruins, then to Copacabana, visit the famous Dark Virgin and its church, lunch and a stroll around the town. Transportation back to La Paz (3 hours) or Puno, Peru to overlap with other side trips in Peru. Lunch included.
