This is South America’s largest island. Here you can walk amidst the beavers in the Valley of the Beavers, see indigenous plants and trees, and explore the Magellan Forests that extend South toward Seno Almirantazgo and beyond.
Day 1
Transfer to the airport for flight to Porvenir on Tierra del Fuego. Transfer to your hotel, dinner and accommodation in Hotel Rosas.
Day 2
Full Day excursion to Tierra del Fuego
At 6 am we shall drive through the absolutely unspoiled island enjoying the native flora and fauna on our way to the Lago Blanco, situated 260 km (approx. 162 miles) south of Porvenir in the heart of this Land of Fire and surrounded by native forests. About 10:30 am we will arrive to Pampa Guanaco, we will visit Valle de los Castores or Valley of the Beavers, Lago Blanco where we shall take in an interesting excursion. You will see many plants and trees native to the island and part of the Magellan forests, extending south towards Seno Almirantazgo and beyond. We shall walk amidst the beaver dams. Box lunch included. After lunch we will visit Estancia Vicuńa (farm) and surrounding, Rasmussen river before returning to Porvenir, arrival about 7 pm. Dinner included. Overnight in Hotel Rosas.
Day 3
Porvenir - Punta Arenas
City Tour, where we shall stop and visit the humble but fascinating Museo de Fernando Cordero Rusque. While it does not have the polish or sophistication of some modern museums. The Onas, the indigenous tribe that once populated these lands, are featured here in rare and spectacular photographs. After gold was discovered in the remote Sierra Boqueron in 1880 the Onas were rapidly exterminated. In the early afternoon we shall cross the Straits of Magellan by ferry (about 2 1/2 hours) back to Punta Arenas. After arrival in Punta Arenas transfer to Hotel Cabo de Hornos and overnight. Lunch included.
Day 4
Punta Arenas
City tour and transfer early afternoon to Punta Arenas airport for flight to Santiago and overlap with the add-on of your choice.
Day 5
Optional: Stay an extra night and choose from our excursions in Punta Arenas.
