Our Lima, Cuzco, Machu Picchu and Aqua Expeditions program includes the must-see destinations in Peru, including the exotic Amazon Rainforest. We will spend 2 days in Cuzco (built, according to Inca legend, by Sapa Inca Pachacuti who transformed a sleepy city-state into the vast empire of Tahuantinsuyu), 2 days in Lima (the colonial capital of Peru), enjoy an overnight in the magical Inca ruins of Machu Picchu and then meander through the wildlife-rich Amazonian rain forest, all aboard the brand new M/V Aqua.

Recently, following UNESCO recommendations, Peruvian authorities have placed restrictions on the visitation of Machu Picchu, the lost Incan ruins. Currently, no more than 2,500 people daily will be allowed to visit the ruins. While these new restrictions are great for the preservation of the ruins, they may cause some difficulties in your ability to visit them, so we recommend booking with plenty of notice.

We offer a choice of 4-star, 5-star and deluxe hotels on this program. The Deluxe option includes a Master Suite accommodation onboard the M/V Aqua and comes with the following Orient Express hotels: the Sanctuary Lodge in Machu Picchu, Monasterio in Cuzco and the Park Plaza in Lima. You may also choose to upgrade to the luxury Hiram Bingham train from Cuzco to Machu Picchu.

Optional excursions onboard the M/V Aqua include venturing into remote creeks to witness giant river otters nesting, an array of yellow-crowned brush-tailed bats, frogs, night monkeys, and more. Along the voyage you will also visit traditional Amazonian villages such as San Juan del Amazonas, where the Cocama Indians carry on their tribe’s traditions living in thatched stilt houses and earning their living by fishing.
