Nuqui and Whale Watching
Discover the undiscovered in Colombia. Explore Nuquí, a quiet island that you can only reach by sea (from Bahía Solano) or by airplane. With jungle, the ‘Cascada de Amor,’ thermal baths, long beaches surrounded by mountains and one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems in the world to its name, you’ll see that Nuquí has been nicknamed “The Eden of the Pacific” with good reason. Swim, surf, lie out on the beach, check out the thermal baths (just 50 minutes from the beach), explore the local communities, dive or whale watch….
The waters that surround Nuquí are ideal for divers: You’ll have the chance to see white coral, sea turtles and dolphins. And each year, from July to October, humpback whales migrate from Antarctica (navigating over 5,000 miles) to warmer waters (typically close to Nuquí) to give birth to their calves.
Yampu offers comfortable accommodation in cabins at El Cantil Ecolodge. Surrounded by the jungle and fresh water streams, and looking out on the sea, this lodge offers wooden cabins with green, shingle roofs and small seating areas (in front of each cabin). All of the cabins are connected by wooden paths, and seven of them offer bathrooms with jungle views, rustic beds with mosquito nets, gas lamps and terraces with hammocks and a view of the sea. Please inquire about this lodge with one of our travel consultants.
