Combine the magic of Machu Picchu with the mystery of Easter Island. This Yampu trip starts in Lima, the capital of Peru. From Lima, we fly to Cuzco, the old capital of the Incas. We will board a train to Machu Picchu and spend a night close to the ruins. After experiencing Peruvian’s wonder Machu Picchu, we travel into the Pacific Ocean to Easter Island, Chile. With its 600 or so Moai statues from a bygone civilization, Easter Island is an utterly unique place.

Machu Picchu, the famous mountain top citadel, was the ‘Lost City of the Incas’, and was only discovered earlier this century. Magical among the clouds, it is complete with palaces, residences and sanctuaries, and surrounded by a sophisticated system of terraces. We will spend a night at the bottom of the ruins, at a paradise-like hotel. Cuzco, the ‘Archeological Capital of the Americas’, was the former capital of the Inca Empire. It is a small city embedded in the Andes range, and a beautiful blend of Inca and Spanish cultures. Lima, the capital of Peru, is also known as the City of Kings for its wonderful colonial architecture and beauty.

Hangaroa is the small capital town of the Easter Island. This is where the great majority of the population lives (about 2000 inhabitants). You will inevitably be drawn by the mystery and mysticism of the island.

Recently, following UNESCO recommendations, Peruvian authorities have placed restrictions on the visitation of Machu Picchu, the lost Incan ruins. Currently, no more than 2,500 people daily will be allowed to visit the ruins. While these new restrictions are great for the preservation of the ruins, they may cause some difficulties in your ability to visit them, so we recommend booking with plenty of notice.
