Enjoy a relaxing beach retreat to Pipa, a popular town located on Brazil’s golden coast. This small village is known for its beautiful local beach, Praia de Pipa. Here you can swim with the dolphins or relax on the beach which is easily accessible from the village. Pipa is a very family-friendly beach with calm waters and a variety of local beach restaurants.
Escape to the beautiful beaches surrounding Pipa as you travel north along the coast exploring this rich Atlantic environment. Your tour also includes a trip to the Ecological Sanctuary located in Pipa. This is a preserved region of Atlantic rainforest that is home to several species of coastal flora and fauna.
Accommodations are Pousadas that are small hotels without star ratings. We have put them in ratings according to our opinion and experience.
Day 1
Today we arrive in Natal. Our guide will meet us at the airport, and after airport reception, we will transfer to Pipa (about 84 kms, 52 miles from Natal).
This afternoon we will visit Pipa’s Ecological Sanctuary, an area of preserved Atlantic Rainforest that covers ancient coastal and home to varieties of indigenous flora and fauna including tuft eared tree monkeys. At the Ecological Sanctuary there are a variety of nature paths through the foliage; we will choose our trail dependent on the status of the weekly pruning and cleaning. From the cliff top lookouts we are almost guaranteed to spot dolphins and sea turtles at high tide in the ocean below. After our visit to the Ecological Sanctuary, we will return to our hotel in Pipa for the evening.
Day 2
Today we will explore the beaches via dune buggys traveling north down the coastline. Our first excursion today is on a ferry crossing the intersection where the Guarairas Lagoon meets the Atlantic Ocean. As we travel north, we will pass several beaches including Malemba, Barreta, Camurupim, Tabatinga, Buzios, and Pirangi do Sul where we can see the world’s largest cashew tree. Returning to Malemba beach we will visit the Arituba Lagoon where there will be time to swim. After, we will return to our hotel in Pipa.
Day 3
Today is at leisure to enjoy the surrounding beaches. We suggest a hike down the beach to Praia dos Golfinhos to swim with the dolphins in the wild. Another suggested trip is a visit to Praia do Madero, a great beach with calm waves that are ideal for novice surfers. This beach is also within walking distance.
Note: If traveling to Praia dos Golfinhos check the tide table beforehand. The tide must be low or almost low to view the dolphins because they will come closer towards the beach during low tide to feed on the smaller fish. Overnight at your selected hotel in Pipa.
Day 4
Today is at leisure to enjoy the surrounding beaches. We suggest exploring the beaches via dune buggys traveling south up the coastline to Mata de Estrela and the Atlantic Rainforest Reserve. Overnight at your selected hotel in Pipa.
Day 5
This morning your guide will meet you at your hotel in Pipa to transfer to the Natal airport for your domestic flight or international flight home.
