Providencia Island

|
Why not travel to San Andrés AND Providencia and Santa Catalina? Collectively declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2000, these three islands are surrounded by intricate coral and clear, blue-green sea. Providencia, just a short flight from San Andrés (roughly 15 to 20 minutes), is ideal for snorkelers, divers, photographers and anyone who appreciates solitary bays; long, white beaches; and abounding biodiversity. Santa Catalina, connected to Providencia by a colorful, wooden bridge is just as compelling, if not more so. See for yourself.
Providencia and Santa Catalina are principally inhabited by Afro-Americans, a blend of Englishmen and Africans. The official language is Spanish, but English is also spoken on account of the Creole language (a variant of Caribbean English), handed-down. Together, San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina boast twelve species of mangrove and fifty-seven species of coral, and four types of sea turtles come to the islands to lay their eggs. Check out the biodiversity and EXPLORE.
Yampu offers several small, locally-owned, boutique hotels. Please inquire about these options with one of our travel consultants.
