Recife, located in the state of Pernambuco, is known as the “Brazilian Venice” because of its many canals and waterways and the innumerable bridges that span them. The city is filled with modern avenues lined with alleyways and old Colonial buildings. Its beaches are also wonderful, with their pale green waters calmed and protected by a line of offshore reefs. Nearby you will find the beaches of Boa Viagem, Pina, Piedade, Candeias, Săo Josă da Coroa Grande, Pontas de Pedra, Catuama and Casa Caiada.
