During this trip we will visit the Lake District on both the Argentina and Chile sides, with a fantastic lake crossing with amazing views of the Andes. While in Puerto Varas, explore the lake region by taking a boat crossing All Saints Lake to Bariloche, with beautiful views of the snow-capped volcanoes and waterfalls. We will also take a full day excursion to Ancud in the island of Chiloe.

This trip can be customized to fit your individual travel dates and any specific requests you may have. Your travel consultant will prepare a customized itinerary for you. We offer a choice of 3, 4, 5-star and deluxe hotels. The deluxe option is with the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Santiago, the Llao Llao Resort in Bariloche and the Arrebol Patagonia Hotel in Puerto Varas.

This tour includes airfare allowance from London (UK), on non-holiday dates. You do not need to fly via London; Yampu will fly you the most direct way to your city of destination. Day 1

Take overnight flight to Santiago.

Day 2

Santiago
Reception at Santiago airport and transfer to your selected hotel in the heart of the city.
Afternoon city tour of Santiago. We will pick you up from your hotel to explore the historic and modern sights of Santiago de Chile. We will start our tour at the Alameda Bernardo O’Higgins, Santiago’s main avenue, visiting La Moneda, the Government Palace, where we will explain to you the historical and actual meaning of this place. We will enjoy a walk through the pedestrian streets of Huerfanos and Ahumada, where the main commercial activity of the city is concentrated. We will then visit the famous Plaza de Armas, the main square of the city, which is surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other historical buildings such as the City Hall and the Post Office, both dating from colonial times. Next we head to Santa Lucia Hill, the hill upon which the Spanish founded Santiago in 1541. It is a lone steep rock, with many plants and an antique building rising steeply from the city below. From here you can see the Parque Forestal (park) on one side and the Mapocho River on the other. We will cross the river to visit Bellavista, the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Santiago. Return to your hotel.

Day 3

Full day of touring around Santiago. On this day you may choose from one of the following excursions: Vina del Mar and Valparaiso; Valle Nevado; Isla Negra - Pablo Neruda Museum; Cousińo Macul and Concha y Toro wineries.

Day 4

Santiago - Puerto Varas
Transfer to the airport and take flight to Puerto Montt. En route to Puerto Varas we will have a tour of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas. Puerto Montt is the capital of the region. We will visit the town, the Pelluco beach area and Chinquihue on the Tenglo canal before ending the visit in the picturesque village of Angelmó with time to explore this pretty fishing port and craft center famous for its woolens and woodwork. We will then visit the town of Puerto Varas, founded in 1854 by German immigrants. Continue on to Philippi Hill, where there are many native trees and also a beautiful view of the town and the lake. Head down to the lakeshore and enjoy the view of the tranquil waters with the Osorno volcano in the background. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 5

Full-day visit to Ancud in Chiloe
Depart from Puerto Varas early in the morning and drive to Pargua, where the ferry goes to the “big island” of Chiloe. Pass through Chacao and Caulin where there is much bird life. Continue to Ancud, the largest town on the north of the island and visit the main square, and the Chile Tour museum which has a picture display of the history of Chile showing the myths and legends for which the island is famous. Continue past the Gulf of Quitalmahue to the fort of San Antonio. Time for lunch, and in the afternoon visit Huaihuén Hill for a beautiful view of the town and its surroundings. Return to Puerto Varas, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 6

Lake crossing to Bariloche
The tour begins by bus from Puerto Varas, taking the road via Ensenada. On arrival at Petrohue, board the catamaran which takes you across All Saints Lake, also known as Esmeralda Lake, until you reach the tiny village of Peulla. Time to eat lunch. The journey continues by vehicle to Puerto Frías in Argentina, where a boat takes you to Puerto Alegre. Travel by bus to Puerto Blest. Continue on Lake Nahuel Huapi to Puerto Pańuelo. The last stage of the journey, from here to Bariloche, is done by vehicle.

Day 7

Day of leisure in Bariloche. Optional excursions available.

Day 8

Bariloche - Puerto Varas by bus
Transfer to International Bus Terminal in Bariloche and then drive by public motor coach on a beautiful pass through the Andes back to Chile and Puerto Varas. The first section of the route takes you along the shore of the immense Lake Nahuel Huapi. After crossing the Andes through Puyehue National Park, you continue past Lago Puyehue with views of the snow-capped volcanos Antillanca, Puyehue and Calbuco, arriving in Puerto Varas in the evening.

Day 9

Morning free to enjoy the peace and tranquility of Puerto Varas and Lago Llanquihue. Afternoon, transfer back to the airport to take the flight to Santiago and connect with the flight back home, or overlap with the add-on of your choice.
