Skorpios II: Classic Chonos Route, from Puerto Montt to the San Rafael Glacier
Nothing says adventure like setting off on a six-day and five-night cruise through Patagonia. On the Classic Chonos Route traveled by the M/V Skorpios II, you cut through the Llanquihue, Chiloé, Chonos, and Aysen archipelagos. As you travel through these remote locations you pass beautiful islands, mountains, lakes, windswept canyons, and small fishing villages until arriving at San Rafael National Park and its colossal glacier.
Sailing every Saturday, the M/V Skorpios II departs from Puerto Montt, a small port city located in southern Chile. The cruise sails to San Rafael National Park, home to the San Rafael Glacier, made from 30,000-year-old ice. San Rafeal National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1978, protects local flora and fauna, the glacier, and the windswept canyons surrounding.
The M/V Skorpios II is one of the most highly regarded Chilean cruise ships. The vessel, designed to accomodate up to 130 passengers, has cabins distributed across five decks all complete with private bathrooms and Plasma TVs. There are two bar/lounges aboard, and each one is stocked with the finest national and international liquors. Be sure to try out some Chilean wine as you watch the stars in the clear outhern Patagonia sky above.
