Skorpios
In 1976, a shipbuilder by the name of Constantino Kochifas Cárcamo initiated cruises to the San Rafael Glacier on M/V Mimi, a small cargo ship with a maximum capacity of twelve passengers. Determined to expose the world to Patagonia, just two years later, he built M/V Skorpios I, his company’s and Chile’s first ship for tourists.
M/N Skorpios I operates in southern Chile, to this day, and with over 600 cruises to its name, it’s come to be a true symbol of Chilean tourism.
Skorpios, the company that evolved out of Constantino Kochifas Cárcamo’s initiatives, has since extended its operations to the Magallanes Region and built two more ships: M/V Skorpios II, the ship with the largest capacity in the fleet, and M/V Skorpios III, operating under the slogan “Our Super Class”—and known for its emphasis on superior service.
