This afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of the “Malevos Circuit” as an introduction to the city and the rich history of the tango. We will visit the beautiful village of Recoleta, Palais de Glace (a circular building where the tango was introduced in the high society ballroom for the first time), and Palermo Park.
This evening you will enjoy your first tango lesson before watching an unforgettable tango show at a typical tagueria.
Day 2
After breakfast this morning we will enjoy our second tour of tango’s history traveling the “Tango Origins Circuit”. Today we will visit San Telmo, a neighborhood rich with diversity that contributed to the spread of the musical rhythms of the tango. We will also visit Lezama Park where we will visit the National History Museum.
This afternoon we will enjoy lunch at Los Immortales on Corrientes Avenue before continuing to the birthplace of Tango, La Boca neighborhood. This neighborhood has a rich Italian flair from the Genoese immigrants that settled here in the last century. Walking along Caminito street will bring memories of their most characteristic music that seem to be everywhere in the city. Here we will visit a typical “conventillo”, or a house in which many families used to live together. We will also visit the local museum where an interesting selection of Quinquela Martin’s paintings are displayed.
A drink at one of the traditional “confiterías” (typical coffee shop) will rejuvenate us before visiting Boedo neighbourhood, a historical neighbourhood that portrays the real Argentine tango spirit.
This evening you can chose to enjoy another sensual tango lesson led by professionals or a dinner and tango show at El Querandí. You may also chose to attend a typical “milonga” (or tango dancing club) with your professional tango instructor.
Day 3
After breakfast we will enjoy a Gaucho Party at a traditional “estancia” and enjoy a meal of delicious traditional barbecue. After lunch, watch a show complete with folk music and typical dances.
This evening we can chose to watch the ring races in which gauchos, or Argentine cowboys, demonstrate their skills as horsemen; or you may choose to enjoy dinner and a show at El Viejo Almacén, a colonial style of “temple tango” where the greatest artists perform an exceptional traditional show.
Day 4
After breakfast we will explore the history of Carlos Gardel, the greatest tango singer of all times. We will begin our tour at Plaza de Mayo and continue along Avenida de Mayo, a street with typical Spanish coffee stores and theatres. We will stop briefly at Café Tortoni, a place where artists and poets used to meet in the old times.
This afternoon we will visit the “Abasto” neighborhood, most frequented by Carlos Gardel, an excellent neighborhood for thematic tango restaurants. We will continue to Chacarita Cemetery to see the Carlos Gardel Monument, and then return along the famous Corrientes Avenue, the street that never sleeps. This afternoon we will enjoy another Tango Lessons instructed by a local professional.
This evening we will have the pleasure of tasting a great “bife de chorizo” (steak) at a typical steakhouse. We will end our visit to Buenos Aires by enjoying the “Milonguero Circuit” visiting the most popular “milongas”, guided by our tango teacher.
