Uruguay offers unspoiled deserted beaches, old colonial towns stalled in the past, natural meadows and extensive wetlands, bird and whale watching, thermal springs and beautiful estancias where you can live the real Gaucho spirit!

Our most popular Uruguay tours include a visit to the richly cultural port of Montevideo, and then combine side trips to enhance your Uruguay experience, such as traveling along the vineyard routes to horseback riding along the coast.

Check out the tour add-ons below, then get in touch with one of our travel experts to start planning!

Biking the Countryside

Enjoy a ride to the town of Jose Ignacio and rural trails that lead to Laguna Garzon and the circular bridge. We will tour the town, the lighthouse and main square to continue on Route 10 towards “La Lengüeta” of Laguna Garzon. We continue on internal roads of local ranches across the Uruguayan campo. We will return along picturesque trails that only locals know.

Exploring Guaverde Vineyards on Horseback

Enjoy a horseback riding tour overlooking the rocky landscape of the Maldonado stream. The horse is an integral part of nature, and its passage does not disturb the environment around us, so there is a big chance of seeing a great variety of birds, armadillos, foxes and hares that live in the area. You will ride to Aguaverde vineyards where we will cross the forest and vineyards to learn about the history of this amazing place.

Kayaking Maldonado

The native cultures of our country used canoes as a primary means of transport. These were the Guarani tribes who, upon navigating the rivers, streams and lagoons, discovered all the geographical features of Uruguay. The Guarani tribes left the country a legacy of native names like Aiguá (springs), Batoví (bosom), Cebollatí, Cuareim and, of course, Uruguay, which is also a Guarani name meaning “river of the painted birds.” As Uruguayans, whether of native or European descent, we carry the native spirit of these lands within us, thus it’s no surprise that so many people love to go canoeing, whether for exploration or recreation. Discover the natural lagoons of Maldonado and appreciate the great variety of birds that live in the surroundings.
