Tour Overview

Get the full experience traveling from Buenos Aires to Patagonia with the gauchos and glaciers of Argentina. Glaciers National Park is famous for Perito Moreno and Upsala, two of the most visited glaciers in the world. Perito Moreno is an ice river 60 km long that descends to Lago Argentino and is one of only three Patagonian glaciers that are not retreating. Yampu will guide you to the northern tip of Lago Argentino and the Estancia Cristina to visit the breathtaking Upsala Glacier. This glacier is 30 km wide and the largest in all of Patagonia. Prior to the visit to the glaciers, we will spend four days in Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan city on the southern shore of Rio de la Plata. It is a favored destination for travelers from all over the world.

Prices include round-trip domestic airfare from Buenos Aires to Calafate; hotel accommodation including daily continental breakfast, city tours in English including all entrance fees, all transfers between airports and hotels with assistance and baggage handling, and meals where specified. Local airport taxes that are payable in the country of destination are not included. Taxes and security fees that can be paid at time of ticketing are already included, El Querandi tango show, Esquina Carlos Gardel tango show (Price includes transfers, Dinner with a glass of wine and the show. Pick up time from your hotel is around 7.30. Dinner starts at 8.30 pm, the show at 10.30 pm and finishes at midnight) the Rojo tango show, or the Gala tango show.

Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon city tour of Buenos Aires, an impressive city that combines the atmosphere of an old European town with the features of a Latin American capital. In this tour, acquire a deep understanding of its characteristics, its history, its architecture, its culture and its best stories. Visit the center of the city, San Telmo, La Boca, Puerto Madero and Palermo, with stops in Plaza de Mayo, Caminito and La Recoleta.

Full-day excursion to an estancia for a typical barbeque lunch and a folklore/gaucho show. Here, learn about the customs of the Argentinean gauchos, and their abilities on horseback that will leave the audience breathless. The meat will be cooked a lo gaucho, outdoors on the barbeque. Lunch and drinks included. Afternoon return to Buenos Aires. Duration: 6 hours. Operates every day except Tuesday.

Day of leisure in Buenos Aires to explore on one’s own. Optional excursions available at additional cost: day trip to Colonia Uruguay by fast ferry; biking adventure around the city, or a culinary focused tour.
Tonight, enjoy an evening of Tango. See an unforgettable tango show performed by the best dancers and singers in Buenos Aires, while enjoying a delicious meal with Argentinean wine. After the show return to the hotel.
Note: There are several venues in the city, each offering something unique. Yampu includes the El Querandi or Esquina Carlos Gardel in the 3 and 4 star option with shared transfers, and the Rojo Tango or Gala Tango for the 5 star and deluxe options with private transfers. Estimated pick up time from the hotel is between 7:30 and 8:30 pm; dinner is served between 8:30 pm and 10:15 and tango show starts around 10:15 pm until 11:30 pm. A boat excursion to the face of the glacier is included to get an up-close and personal perspective of this immense gift from Mother Nature.
Optional mini-trekking excursion for outdoor enthusiasts (additional cost per person).

Los Glaciers National Park

Depart from the hotel to Puerto Bandera, 50 kilometers (31 miles) away from El Calafate, to enjoy a full-day lake excursion to Upsala Glacier and Estancia Cristina. Board a modern and comfortable boat to sail among hundreds of icebergs on Lago Argentino as it approaches the breathtaking view of Upsala Glacier’s towering western front, the largest glacier in Los Glaciers National Park. From here, continue sailing through Cristina Canal and disembark at the Estancia Cristina. There will be six hours to enjoy the many activities at Estancia Cristina, including a guided walk to the Caterina River and Chapel. Lunch will be served in the dining hall at the Estancia.
After this excursion, return to the Estancia farm house to depart at 5:30pm and arrive back at Puerto Bandera at approximately 7:00pm. Return to Calafate and transfer to the hotel. Lunch included.
Optional: One can ride in an all-terrain vehicle or enjoy a trekking excursion filled with marine fossils (at additional cost, must be booked in advance).
