Havana

Begin your day with a walking tour of Old Havana, focusing on its architectural and urban development.

Although the city was founded in 1519, much of the current layout dates back about 200 years. As a colonial port, Havana thrived behind fortified walls, prospering through the sugar and tobacco trade. Explore its five historic plazas, the Cathedral, and several significant buildings. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982, today Old Havana balances preservation and sustainable tourism.

Afterward, embark on a Havana food tour, venturing off the tourist path to discover local markets, hidden food stalls, and authentic street food. Your guide, Alvaro, will share tips on finding the best Cuban cuisine, ending with an intimate lunch at his private residence, where you'll enjoy traditional Cuban dishes and beverages.

In the afternoon, immerse yourself in Cuban culture with a one-hour salsa dance workshop. Learn the vibrant “casino” style, a popular circle dance with roots in 1950s Havana. This dynamic social dance is accessible to everyone, regardless of experience.

For dinner, a reservation awaits at Chef Ivan Justo's restaurant (reservation only, not included). Chef Ivan crafts a seasonal, farm-to-table menu featuring fresh, organic ingredients from local farms. His dishes elevate traditional Cuban cuisine, and the restaurant’s nostalgic decor adds to the unique dining experience.

End your day with a performance by the Buena Vista Social Club. Experience live renditions of classic Cuban boleros, chachas, and sones at one of Havana's local venues, celebrating the legacy of this iconic music ensemble.

Here, you'll find original artwork, jewelry, clothing, ceramics, and other handmade crafts by local artisans. The market is also a cultural center, hosting exhibits and performances.

Our guides were lovely knowledgeable and very professional

Thank you for all your help with our trip to Cuba. Chris and I had a most enjoyable time. The hotels were very good indeed, especially the Sevilla in Havana and the La Union in Cienfuegos. Our guides were lovely young people with a great deal of knowledge and they were very professional. The hotel switch in Trinidad was acceptable. We were taken to a nice large and quiet first floor chalet flat at Cubanacan Las Cuevas hotel.

We loved the excursion to the countryside. The landscape at Vinales was beautiful and we enjoyed our time at the Topes de Collantes National Park. We are nature lovers and enjoyed the walks.
