Yampu’s Highlights of El Salvador Vacation: The Unmissable Attractions is a brief tour beginning in San Salvador, the capital and largest city in the country. Enjoy a true taste of El Salvadorian culture by experiencing the wide variety of natural and cultural resources that it has to offer. Your tour also includes visits to the city of Santa Ana, the Mayan ruins at Joya de Ceren, San Andres, and Tazumal. This tour includes a visit to a coffee plantation, and a local historical evening market.

El Salvador:

US Citizens entering El Salvador will need to purchase a tourist card for $10.00 upon arrival. A valid passport is required to travel and should have at least 6 months validity after your return home. You should have at least 2 blank pages per country that you are visiting. If your passport does not meet this requirement at the time of departure, you can be denied boarding for your international flight and may consequently incur additional expenses.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel alert for countries and territories where Zika virus has been found (Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela). If you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant, please consult your doctor before traveling to these countries.

Today, take a flight to San Salvador. Upon arrival, be greeted for airport reception and transferred to the hotel.
Begin the tour in San Salvador, where one will go to the historic center of the city with Iglesia el Rosario, Palacio Nacional, Teatro Nacional, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, where the remains of Monsignor Romero rest. Joya de Ceren- Santa Ana

Today, enjoy a tour of the archeological site of Joya de Ceren, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Joya de Ceren was a pre-Columbian Mayan village, known as the Pompeii of the Americas, after being covered by hot ashes as a result of the eruption of a nearby volcano, similar to the ancient Roman ruins Pompeii. Next, visit the pre-Hispanic ruins of San Andres and its ceremonial center. San Andres had contacts throughout present day Central America, and traded with Peten, Teotihuacan and Copan.

Today, enjoy a full day tour beginning with the colorful town of Ataco. Here, one will visit a local coffee factory to learn the production progress from growing and harvesting to the delicious final product.
This afternoon will be at leisure to explore the beautiful city of Ataco before continuing to Nahuizalco. A small town with strong indigenous roots, Nahuizaclo is known for its wicker and famous for its evening market dating from ancient times. Late this afternoon, transfer to the hotel in Apaneca.
