Private Full Day Colchagua Valley Wine Tour with Lunch

Colchagua read more...

Colchagua Valley is located 180 km (110 mi) south of Santiago. The southernmost portion of the Rapel Valley is one of Chile's best known wine regions and has earned much appreciation for its full-bodied Cabernet, Carmenere, Syrah, and Malbec. This region's wine regularly appears high on the world's lists of leading wines. The majority of the wineries are concentrated in the center of the valley, although new plantations are working their way up hillsides to explore the western frontier toward the sea.

Vina Viu Manent is a Chilean winery owned by the Viu family. It was founded in 1935 when the Catalonian immigrant, Miguel Viu-Garcia and his two sons Agustin and Miguel Viu-Manent came across Bodegas Viu in Santiago, Chile. They bottled and sold wine in the local market under the "Vinos Viu" brand. In 1966 Miguel Viu Manent fulfilled his long-time dream of making his own wines when he acquired the Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco in Colchagua. This traditional estate included 150 hectares of vineyards planted to noble, pre-phylloxera vines, as well as a winery and manor house. Viu Manent produces Pinot Noir, Merlot, Carmenere, Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Semillon.

We will then continue toward Colchagua Valley's main plaza to have lunch at local restaurant.

After lunch we can visit the Museum Colchagua which is the largest and most complete museum in Chile; with a large collection of pieces collected from the pre-historic era. Modern racing cars, natives, and Andean from old pre-Hispanic cultures along the continent, rescued pieces from the Second World War from different European countries, old carriages, fossils, unique handicraft and furniture. A copy of the mine up north where the Chilean miners were rescued in year 2011, the biggest mine accident in Chilean history, is also found here.
Afterward this tour, you will continue your journey heading to Millahue Valley. Our wine lovers will have the pleasure to taste the VIK iconic wine, an excellent blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere, produced with a holistic concept: The synergy between a great terroir with 12 different valleys all high in precision viticulture, technology, passion, art and architecture is incredible. You will discover a one-of-a kind winery and enjoy a private barrel wine tasting. We also invite you to connect with the peace of nature with horseback riding, mountain biking, or trekking. The Vik Experience will not leave you indifferent! Vik produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

At the appropriate time you will be met at your hotel to transfer to your Santa Cruz hotel.

Lapostolle was founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. The Marnier Lapostolle family, founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur Grand Marnier, is famous for producing spirits and liqueurs, but the family has also been involved in wine making for generations. In creating Lapostolle, the family has pursued the same uncompromising approach to quality that made Grand Marnier a global success. Its objective is as simple as it is ambitious: to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroirs of Chile.

Lapostolle winery is located in the town of Cunaco, right next to Santa Cruz. It is the original winery, where Lapostolle was founded in 1994 and today it is here where our Casa and Cuvee Alexandre wines are produced. Lapostolle owns 370 hectares in three different vineyards and produce a total of 200.000 cases spread over Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere, and Syrah. With a traditional Chilean old hacienda style, it has a production capacity of 3.300.000 liters in stainless steel and French oak tanks, and more than 3.500 French Oak Barrels. I recommend Yampu highly for S. American travel

In 2015, Yampu organized a 19-day individual itinerary tour for me to Peru (Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Lima), Chile (Santiago, Valparaiso/Casablanca, and southern Patagonia) plus a short stop in Buenos Aires. This tour included three nights at the all-inclusive Hotel de los Torres in Torres del Paine National Park, and a 4-day, 3-night cruise on the MV Stella Australis through the Tierra del Fuego archipelago from Punta Arenas to Cape Horn and on to Ushuaia. At every stop Yampu arranged airport transfers, superb guides, safe and cordial drivers, comfortable and beautiful hotels, and fascinating programs. The trip ran like clockwork, was educational and immense fun, a true mix of adventures and wondrous scenery and cultures. Yampu’s sales staff was knowledgeable and highly responsive to my requests as we constructed the tour plan, and worked well within my budget constraints to create this wonderful and most memorable travel experience. I recommend Yampu highly for S. American travel.

We could not be more satisfied

We appreciate your follow-up very much just as the service you provided. We could not be more satisfied, everything went so well. We have submitted very good evaluations in every country (Peru, Bolivia and Chile) respectively. Everything was well organized, the hotels were good and everyone showed up everywhere on-time providing valuable service. If we go again, we definitely would contact you and recommend your service to our friends as well. Feel free to post our comments and we will contact you again when we start planning our next trip to this region.

Thanks again for your co-ordination of our trip

Just to advise you that we arrived home in Australia yesterday after another successful trip to Chile and Argentina (plus a short side trip to Uruguay!). Apart from a couple of hiccups in the first half of the trip that you were aware of, the trip overall went very well. All the connections worked out, the hotel/hospedaje accommodation was overall very good, with some outstanding (e.g. Tierra Atacama, KKala, Nothofagus, Entre Hielos) and we lucked a presidential suite (without the President) at the Hotel Antofagasta. Bahia Bustamante was also a refreshing highlight. The guide services also worked out well and as it eventuated, all aspects of the original itinerary were met, including the remote area crossing from Chile into Argentina from Cochrane to Los Antiguos. There were many geographic, geological and cultural highlights and we were generally very fortunate with weather conditions. Thanks again for your co-ordination of our trip. Graham and Anita were spending an extra couple of days in Santiago and return to Australia tomorrow.
