RWANDA

Visit the "Land of a thousand hills"

Rwanda is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills” and is located in the Great Lakes region of central eastern Africa. A small, landlocked country (about the size of the state of Maryland) Rwanda’s grassy and rolling hills are home to abundant wildlife including the rare mountain gorilla, the country’s premier attraction. The notable geographic features of Rwanda include chains of volcanic mountains and deep lakes. Though widely known for the 1994 genocide, during which 800,000 people were killed, Rwanda has turned around significantly in recent years. In 2009, CNN went as far to call Rwanda “Africa’s biggest success story”; there is no better time to visit Rwanda than now.
