Mongolia

The Nomadic Empire

Once ruled by a fearless and widespread empire of nomadic tribes known as the Huns, Mongolia has an impressive history dating back centuries. The fearless ruler, Genghis Khan, and his successors dominated much of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, China, and Russia. Today, the landlocked nation of Mongolia sits between China and Russia surrounded by rugged mountains, deserts, and vast valleys of grasslands. With a widespread and small population of three million, much of the country continues with the traditional nomad life. Visitors can experience the culture firsthand with stays in mobile yurts, helping alongside reindeer herders, learning of the ancient practice of eagle hunting, and riding horses for a true wilderness experience in the pristine nature that visitors long for. ____________________________________________________________________________________________
