Tour Overview
Visit the South Luangwa National Park, also known as The Luangwa Valley, at the end of the Great Rift Valley. This amazing wildlife sanctuary, arguably the best in Africa, is one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas on the continent. During your tour you will also explore the lower Zambezi, which was a private reserve of Zambia’s president up until the early 1980s when it was declared a national park. The park has been protected from the effects of mass tourism and is an amazing destination to see exotic flora and fauna.

At dawn, breakfast is served around a campfire with porridge heated on the fire and toast cooked by the coals. The morning walk or drive will leave soon after. The game in the area is excellent and includes many family herds of elephants and the endemic species of giraffe, known as the Thornicroft Giraffe. A mid-morning break of tea, coffee and cake will be taken at a scenic point on a lagoon or the Luangwa River. Return to camp for lunch around mid-day. After lunch cool off around camp or siesta. The Luangwa Valley marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, and is possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa. It. The ox bow lagoons, woodland and plains of the valley host huge concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo, and over 400 species of birds.

Lower Zambezi
A private reserve of Zambia’s president up until the early 1980s when it was declared a national park is Zambezi. As such, the park has been protected from the effects of mass tourism, and it remains an area of untouched wilderness in Africa. This national park is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River providing the perfect setting for a traditional safari.

We had an amazing time
We had an amazing time. Africa exceeded every expectation that we had. The weather was outstanding, the food was good. The guides (with the exception of Johannesburg) were great. I only wound up taking 687 pictures. I’m now trying to get these into my computer and into a file that I can send to my friends. They all want to see what we experienced. I have mentioned Yampu several times to friends, telling them how pleased we were with your services. We won’t hesitate to recommend you and Yampu in the future. Thanks for playing such a great role in making this a most unforgettable vacation.

Everything was perfect! Guides were wonderful!
Everything was perfect! Guides were wonderful! I especially loved the Chitwa Chitwa. The experiences here were fabulous, including eating dinner with a family of elephants, including a baby. From our room and the lodge we saw a herd of Hippos, crocodiles in the morning and two lions. On the drive we saw an Impala in a tree which had been killed by a lion. Then shortly thereafter we saw a leopard leap up into the tree to eat the impala. We also went to an art opening, and liked a painting so much that we decided to buy it and take it home. It was her first painting to sell and she was so happy she gave it to me. I hope in some way my trip to South Africa, may have changed this student’s life, who will now have more confidence as an artist.
