Metropolitan Natural Park

Today Travelers will set out on a canopy crane adventure. The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute rain forest canopy crane at Metropolitan Natural Park is 42m tall with a 51m long arm. The crane lifts nature enthusiasts above the forest in a comfortable gondola and then lowers them at the desired observation sites within the canopy. In this way, the crane allows safe, easy and three-dimensional access to the forest. After 30 minutes of observation in the crane, enjoy 3 more hours of nature along the trails of Metropolitan Natural Park. Return to the Panama City hotel. ...read less

Panama City and Miraflores Locks

This morning enjoy a full day tour of Panama City and the Miraflores Locks. Begin the tour with a 30-minute drive to Miraflores to see the huge vessels passing the Panama Canal. The busiest hours are from 9 am to 10 am and from 2 pm to 5 pm, so travelers will be able to see many ships getting lifted or lowered 16 meters in two distinct steps. Enjoy the view on the Locks from a sheltered terrace and listen to the explanations from the guide. To complete the visit of the Canal, stop by the Museum and Visitor Center at Miraflores which gives travelers a good idea on the construction of the Canal - a masterpiece of engineering. One will also learn about the history of the canal and its significance for Panama and the entire world trade as well as on the current expansion project. After the visit to the Canal, continue with the guide to the Amador Causeway, a road that connects three Islands in the Pacific Ocean and offers magnificent views of the Canal on one side, and of the skyline of Panama City on the other. The tour continues to the Casco Viejo, Panama City's colonial quarter. At the Casco Viejo one will feel set back in time while admiring the lovely colonial houses, the narrow roads and the impressive churches. Travelers will get a good idea about Panama's history by driving or walking through the main attractions of this quarter. Return to the hotel for an evening at leisure. ...read less

Soberania National Park

This morning, join a morning hike through Soberania National Park and observe a variety of exotic tropical birds while enjoying the surrounding trees and plants of this area. Pipeline Road, where the hike takes place, is a dirt road that goes through the heart of this national park and offers views of some of the diverse bird life in the area. Pipeline road has for several years in a row; set world record bird counts in a 24-hour period - up to 367 different species of birds. Some of the more common sights are the Slaty-tailed Trogon, Keel-billed Toucan, Thick-billed Mot-Mot, and several species of ant birds, wrens, tanagers and flycatchers. Of course, just because this tour focuses on observing the bird life, it does not mean that one might not hear or even see Howler monkeys or other mammal life like sloths, anteaters and agoutis.

In the afternoon travelers will visit the Biomuseo and the Casco Antiguo. Three million years ago, Panama changed life in the world. The Biomuseo tells this fascinating story. Designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the Biomuseo is his only work in Latin America and the tropics. The building was designed to tell the story of how the isthmus of Panama rose from the sea, uniting two continents, separating a vast ocean in two, and changing the planet's biodiversity forever. The Biomuseo's 4,000 square meters contain eight permanent exhibition galleries designed by Bruce Mau Design. In addition to the main spaces, the museum includes a public atrium, a space for temporary exhibitions, a shop, a cafe, and multiple outdoor exhibits displayed in the botanical park. The permanent exhibition is a combination of art and science that leads the visitor to experience a marvelous phenomenon. The Biomuseo is located on the Amador Causeway, a prominent area at the entrance to the Panama Canal in the Pacific Ocean. From the Biomuseo one can clearly observe the skyline of the modern city, the historic district, Ancon Hill, and the Bridge of the Americas. To continue the tour, travelers will be taken to the Casco Antiguo, where they will feel set back in time while admiring the lovely colonial houses, the narrow roads and the impressive churches. Learn much about Panama's history by driving or walking through the main attractions of this quarter. A delicious lunch will be served in a distinctive local restaurant. Continue on to Panama Viejo, the Old Panama. Panama Viejo was the first European settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas. This first Panama City was looted and destroyed by the notorious English buccaneer Henry Morgan in 1671 and therefore abandoned. Today there are only ruins left. Still, the tower of the ancient cathedral is standing and has become a landmark of the town. After the tour, be taken back to the hotel. Note: Biomuseo is closed on Tuesdays.

Lake Alajuela

In the morning, be picked up at the hotel and head north towards Lake Alajuela. Once there, travelers will step into small boats, which will carry passengers up the Rio Chagres. Enjoy the fascinating and dense jungle that surrounds the river on this boat trip. Upriver, step out of the dugout canoes and enjoy a short hike (which can be a bit muddy) to a beautiful waterfall in midst of the rain forest. (This stop will be made depending on the weather conditions). Reach the village of the Embera Indians, one of seven indigenous tribes in Panama. The people of the Embera tribe will welcome everyone at the pier and will gladly explain how they live today. The village’s chief will give a brief explanation on the history of the tribe, its traditions, cultures, beliefs and handicrafts. Then, a traditional lunch of fish and plantains prepared by the Embera women will be served. In the afternoon, experience a traditional Embera dance and have the opportunity to shop for handicrafts. The sale of local products directly benefits the village and helps to pay the school fees for the children. One can also get a temporary Embera tattoo painted on their arm or leg. ...read less

Panama- It was seriously a great trip and I saw everything I wanted.

Our trip to Panama was seriously a great trip and I saw everything I wanted. We saw a bunch of kinkajous and cacomistles that came to our cabin at los quetzales. That place is magical, the bird life alone (we saw 6 quetzels, one even right outside our cabin) makes it worth a trip. Families would love these cabins and hands down the place had the best food in Panama.

Everything was made fresh and they had a huge organic garden with all kinds of vegetables, great for someone like me that does not eat meat.

I want to thank you again for everything you did for my mother and daughter.

I want to thank you again for everything you did for my mother and daughter. They enjoyed a wonderful trip and everything went very smoothly. They loved the hotel and said the excursions were exceptional, with the guides giving them first class service. In fact, my Mother is considering moving down there. While she said it has changed so much, she really did enjoy herself so much and loved the country and what has been done to improve it. And without your finishing touches and tour plans the way you took into consideration her age and their needs, I doubt she would feel like moving back. I will definitely recommend your agency to anyone I know taking a trip oversees. Thanks again for everything.
